This is the recipe I found

quote:
# 1 pound pork tenderloin, trimmed
# 2 tablespoons brown sugar
# 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
# 1 1/2 tablespoons sambal oelek or Thai chile paste
# 1 teaspoon minced peeled fresh ginger
# 1 teaspoon dark sesame oil
# 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
# 3 garlic cloves, minced

I'll try to use the best quality meat I can find (organic and whatnot) but I've never been to Korea so I probably won't know the difference anyways. I liked the stuff she made.

wagyu beef is the best bet for being closer to authentic at a decent price. Korean beef is too fucking expensive.

Mothelfruckel.

edit: that recipe is as korean as sarah jessica parker. It has none of the staples of korean cooking like the bean paste or chili paste/powder from that region. i bet you won't even eat that ssam style.

Clakel writheblead.

Has anyone ever tried Kobe beef?

Posted by srussell0018 on Jun-29-2011 17:54:

I just asked him and he said she uses the grill for the kalbi but not the bulgogi. Personally, I think they should just learn how to speak American and put cheese on everything like god intended.

that bitch doesn't even use korean ingredients. she can shove that sambal shit sideways up her crooked zipper ovaries and learn to make po po.

It's good, but it's not so good as to justify how expensive it is.

i know 2 meat shops that carry hanwoo here...now i want some.

Posted by srussell0018 on Jun-29-2011 18:08:

I just asked my friend for his mom's recipe but apparently she just knows it by heart. He said "Shred a whole onion and pear and just mix the juice with the meat, add some soy sauce and sugar and pepper and add some sesame oil at the end, idk about the exact amount she just eyes it out." I know he's leaving shit out because what his mom made was spicy.

Fuck.

Mad expensive. I've heard all kinds of shit like; they give the cows massages, beer to make them relaxed and tender. I would if they also give them full-release?

still no pepper paste/powder.

she should be put in a northern camp for shaming her lace.

We're connected. Odd, and Good to hear at the same time; I too have been asked to upgrade/implement new features on the iphone app. for the firm I currently work for. The senior developer decided to bail on the company and move to greener pastures (a non-financial stint)--some job in L.A... Well, anyways, It's written with monotouch (?) (C#/.NET --objective C...) the thing is, I'm pretty much on my own (lots of experience with python and c++), but very little experience (mostly none) with C# (or even iphone, ipad app).

Yeah that's just what my friend said, he probably doesn't really know what he's talking about. He tried making it before and it didn't taste the same as hers at all.

I take it you spent some time in Korea? Do you know any real recipes with all of the actual ingredients, amounts, prep, etc?

Posted by Zyklon_Jay on Jun-29-2011 18:28:

you need the power of the ajima for tasty bulgogi.

Daiji is pork. Bulgogi is the name of a spicy pork dish, and Kalbi/Galbi is Korean beef or pork grilled short ribs.

Aww man. That sounds good right now. Daiji sounds Japanese, are all those Korean specialties?

Posted by srussell0018 on Jun-29-2011 19:23:

Yes. It's not pronounced how it looks. It's more like "deh-gee."

bulgogi is traditionally a beef dish, not a pork dish. Dog stew is pretty tasty.

My friend told me that the way to kill the dog so that their meat was the freshest/most tender was to put it in a bag and beat it to death.
