The Official TOTA Toronto Maple Leafs/Hockey Talk Thread

Ok ok....I know it is still early but I can wait no longer...maybe it is the new tattoo but I am so psyched about the upcoming season.

Here is a spot for all us Leaf fans to share our thoughts on the team and how they are doing. I will be sure to add any rumors or trade talks that I hear.

To start off...I heard today that Belfour only expects to play 60 games this year. If toronto stands any chance of going anywhere they need at least 70 games from their starter....whoever it is.

i love the leafs just as much as any1 else, but they are gonna SUUUUCK this year

belfours gonna break a hip or some other bone...we got fuckin a big pylon antropov, eric lindros is done after 1 good body check.

just 1 big catastrophe waiting to happen

Posted by CanadaBoyTRANCE on Aug-31-2005 04:50:

Evil1

FLYERS HEAR...THEY ROCK..EVER LEAF FAN SAYS THEY WILL WIN THE CUP GETTING KINDA OLD IF U ASK ME..

Posted by cap on Aug-31-2005 04:57:

They should keep Lindros benched until half the regular season is over. Less of a chance he'll get injured before playoffs.

What the leafs need is a young superstar to balance all the veteran experience. Jarome Iginla comes to mind

Posted by thejosh on Aug-31-2005 05:54:

They're gonna be ok this year. Lindros will step it up and O'Neill & Allison will prove they are still decent players. I'm happy they signed Aubin to be the possible backup to Belfour. So we lose Roberts, Nieuwendyk, Nolan, and Mogilny and get Lindros, O'Neill and Allison. Thats fine.

I also heard that they want to trade Antropov to Washington for Brenden Witt. Good deal I think, Antropov is a sack of pucks.

Posted by Pett on Aug-31-2005 06:55:

Jason Alison is gonna be one of the leauge leaders in points this year

Go Leafs Go!

or as lars would put it "maple leafs go!"

Posted by house_conXion on Aug-31-2005 16:05:

I'm just happy we're gonna be having some hockey this year, I'm very optimistic that Toronto will do well this year but as for winning the cup the Leafs need some young guns who will take them all the way, sure the leafs have alot of leadership in Sundin and Lindros but it's gonna take a bit more for them to overcome this Stanley Cup drought.

Posted by StereoPrincess on Aug-31-2005 16:36:

ha ha ha ha ha ha.

lame.

Posted by Yohan on Aug-31-2005 17:50:

Allison can be a big bonus if he gets back to the level he was before he got whacked... It's a big gamble though. Same with Lindros. Both have potential to get hurt badly and that'll leave a big hole in leafs line up.

If he gained about 30 pounds and took some roids to get his temper going he wouldn't be a bad player

Posted by ChemEnhanced on Sep-02-2005 02:32:

Just off the wire....Steve Stumpy Thomas has been practicing with some leafs and says he would play for the leafs for the league minimum. Marchment also says he would play for free...just pay his expenses.

I know Steve is old but for league minimum money I would throw him on the third line.

How old is he now? 40 something? Too old.

Marchment is still ok for 6th or 7th defenceman.

Oh I agree he is too old....but for league minimum money why not throw him in there....allows them money to make some moves later in the season.

That is the only problem with the cap....you can only make trades that are dollar for dollar so I don't think you can stock up to make a run at the cup.

Mariusz Czerkawski , joines leafs. Expect it to be announced thursday or friday.
I am really happy cause it will probably mean that there will me more lafs games on TV, plus its nice for Marre to play with his long time friend Mats Sundin

It's official.....Mariusz Czerkawski is a Maple Leaf.....expect him to play with Sundin. Marchment has been invited to training camp and Stumpy Thomas has not.
