Really like the track by the way, great vocal, songwriting, and production all around. No gripes here!

@evo8: Nice work on that remix! Sounding really good. I wish I could give you some constructive criticism but I can't find any issues with the track.

I need to work on making one as well but I have been struggling to live up the original track haha.

-------------

Heres a techno jam session I recorded live today, any feedback on what works or what doesn't would be great

this is subjective but for me the kick would have to be a lot heavier and a bit more distorted, the bass is good
i would like it to have heavier hats as well and some percussion to drive things along

Lovely mix and a catchy number. It is just asking for summer vocals. Maybe grunge up the piano a bit as the track progresses, perhaps with some hi passed slap back reverb etc, just to give a sense of journey.

It needs a a better bassline in my opine, as it sounds sorta under nourished / unresolved. Like the floatey vocals, but think sometimes it would do to hear them more clearly with less fx drenching.

The odd attention grabbing stab would give it further interest.

What do you mean by heavier hats.

Posted by djnitride on May-31-2015 16:24:

I am guessing more present / less washy sounding. Sound saturation could do the job maybe?

Thanks evo8, I am going to work on getting the percussion down and then move on to adding more details / synthy stuff.

Just wanna say I listened to most of the track posts recently, and dont have crits. But Evo8, I feel there is a lot more you can do with your wip, I agree with Richard and would start with the bassline and work from there.

Can't really add anything constructive other than saying you are one of the most talented people on this forum , I'm blown away.

Well remixing is easy for me really. Starting from scratch is much more difficult for me. This is my 2nd vocal remix and def glad to contribute, cheers.

Then start remixing something and once you have something cool gradually remove everything reminiscent of the original, and you'll end up with something that's entirely your own.

usually some more mid-range, like in the 1k area rather 5k upwards
saturation/distortion can help here, also certain chorus units can help thicken hats
