I like video game music!

I'd say the 30 seconds intro is too long.
Maybe a bigger reverb? delay automation to give it some flavor? some fx\noises play around 2:37?

But i like this "genre" quite a bit, nice when you want to take a break from the 4x4

couple comments on the mix for this one, the highhats might be too loud/abrasive, feel free to ignore that though cause its mixed like every other track from the 90s which seems like the vibe youre going for

also might want to smash the bassline and bring it out more, its a little quiet

I really like this! It reminds me of that Mario racing game for the N64, especially after 2:50. I would maybe change up the melody a little, it repeats like a thousand times and kind of gets old :/ Other than that though I really like it!

needs a beefier kick, also not sure about the different melodies/pianos etc added in later - only add something if you think it benefits the track, not because you feel you have to......my 2c

A deep house remix of one of my favorite songs that I'm working on. Normally, I would call this finished and just upload it officially. But I want to know if there is anything wrong with it before hand. (Also, I like cats)

I wanted to start off with saying the groove you have is nice, but you really need to sync those vocals properly .

Now that you point it out, I don't even know what I was thinking! lol

also you could probably safely end it around the 7 minute mark, thats a long ass track

I really do like long tracks though, but I guess you're right. I don't know.

After a couple of weeks of experimenting, here is the main groove of something I'm working on. It's on the deeper funkier side of life, bit of dubbism and vaque deep grooves. Monotone evolving with loads of FX and subtle changes.... you can download the snip in HQ if you like

Posted by meriter on Oct-06-2013 20:31:

i added a little change during the middle part to make it less boring and repetitive, my next track will be minimal techno so you can all be enthralled

tempest in this?

i really like when it levels out at around 1:10

i think it could use a more modern sounding snare but im not a big fan of analog percussion sounds

Nice grove, feels real fresh and hypnotic. Nice rich sound.

Really comes together I think after 2 mins, echos of proggy bands like Caan. Like that second break - very pleasing.

Raphie I've tried to make my track more accessible as you suggested, this is what I have so far;

Posted by meriter on Oct-06-2013 21:42:

thats really good shit richard

supposed to have vocals right? sounds like some parts are ducked out for vox

sounds really quite polished and nice, like the way youve got it almost totally mixed before you got the vocal in place. The synths in the backround and fx are awesome. loads of little cool details very nice - but imo:

sounds cool but to me there defo something not quite right with the sidechain or pumping on the bass, not smooth enough and gives the mix a slightly jerky feel imo

Something sounds not quite right on the mastering side, i noticed it when i turn the volume down really low

I dont master things personally so dont know a lot about it - but just doent sound quite smooth enough overall?, maybe play with longer attack time (if poss)?

just my 2 cents worth

I like it, good job meriter. I also like the pic, synth cats rule!

yes! Indeed really good, you should finish this.
Arrangement wise it's getting there, the flow is good now.
However, turn all you levels probably 1/3rd down and easy on the limiter, your levels are now all over the place, the power pianochords must stay as solid on top of the drumloops as they sound solo'ed.

Now it sounds like everything is squeezed through a tiny funnel, fighting for it's space

I love the beats and melodies and EVERYTHING! Except the levels, like Raphie said. Also, the change at about 2:30 sounds slightly awkward to me. I don't know how to explain it but I guess the best way to put it is that it's too abrupt...

Oh no. Another Deep House track. :/ oh well

Well spotted!!

Thanks for comments everyone, I already turned it down quite a bit from last time but clearly this mix is all over the place.

Might be one to get mixed by a pro, but I just don't know if the track warrants such an expense.

I'll get some vocals in and see if it's then worth the expense of getting it mixed and mastered properly.

TYLER - last night and today trying to get your tracks to play but no joy so far - really weird how some tracks on SC play and some wont my end.
