i liked your mix nutter, couple of double beats every now and again but after my efforts tonight its all good its like something mr plees would play, good party mix

Posted by Light The Fuse on Feb-09-2006 14:52:

yeah nice ch00nz mangz..philbz was right - exact sorta stuff id do for a party setting (i own all of em lol)
didnt get to bogged down in trying to be psuedo intelligent ee prog trance - just good rocking muzak noice.
couple mixes slip in and out - but ya just got new dex - acceptable hehe
couple things-
what else - ride tends to break the flow a bit - after such a rockin bomb like aftermath - ya gotta keep the pace up.
also if your gunna be mixing melodies - i dunno how to explain it cos i dont keymix (see matts novel in the thread somewhere if ya wanna do it like that) - but yeah i dunno - try and make them werk together a little more - they are a bit off sometimes.

other than that nice keep it up

if you are mixing melodies either key mix or just make sure the tune you are mixing into stays percussion (ie. no key) until you finish the mix or as soon as the new tune starts being in key finish the mix or the old tune goes into the outro, where hopefully it is just percussion (no key). this will hopefully mean you get no nasty key clashes, if you do it right but you have to know you songs though. i am pretty sure that made no sense but anyway i tried. i would stay away from mixing during melodies though.

^^ in my (limited) experience mixing just percussions (in trance) is pretty boring tho.

Yeah, I realised this after I recorded and listened back. I thought the hi-hats of ride would fit pretty well with the sound of Aftermath, but I mixed in too late and got the breakdown rather than the intro
