Good thing I bought the four pack. Heads up. The update they did to the Connect software likes to crash at start up. Eventually it connects but only after the remotes are in use.

Ugh, sorry to hear it.

Sounds like a battery issue. AT least you've got spares.

I think the delays must be them scrabbling to fix the issues. It's a shame because I like when small companies try to change the game but you have to get your shit in order, and it's not like they haven't had a year to figure it out.

I'm involved now in electronics manufacturing and QC is probably the biggest thing. They fact they started doing PR for this over a year ago has been a really dumb move. Their IG is them doing press tours and expos, yet all the comments are just people giving them shit for delays and malfunctions.

Mine is meant to arrive this time next week. We'll see whether I get a working one.....

Sad thing is, the remote was working fine the night before. Then last night, nothing.

In other words, PSSL was meant to receive the units on the 15th, but Phase pushed it back again to the 28th.

Posted by DJ RANN on May-31-2019 18:41:

It's official:

PSSL are such a bunch of inept tossers.

They had pushed the date to the 27th, so on the 26th I called and they told me they're "in transit and will be here tomorrow".

I had them confirm the tracking to them and he said "our purchasing department has confirmed" etc. So I made him double check as this was the bollocks I was told last time and he said it's coming.

Next day I call to find out where it is....

....they tell me they're probably being unpacked to go out.

.......Then i get a call back at the end of the day, saying they didn't arrive and won't even be shipped form phase until next week.

Maybe I just got unlucky, and no offense Brandt in case you're affiliated, but PSSL are a fucking bunch of disorganized clowns.

I then found out that if I'd ordered from Dj TechTools, Guitar Center o=r any one of the 9 other sellers in the USA, I'd already have it by now.

PSSL seem to have MAJOR issues with their purchasing department and can't organize a piss up in a brewery.

Last time I ever fucking order from them.

Ahh shit damn

Posted by Brandt Slater on Jun-01-2019 08:19:

Dude that sucks and interesting too. I typically shop at PSSL and havenít had ian ssue like that yet. If it helps, a friend of mine is having the same issues with Phase through Guitar Center. I dunno if he purchased them online or in a store but thereís been a three week delay past when they were supposed to arrive.

Quite frankly, Phaseís tech support receives and F from me. Still havenít gotten a response from them. Attempted to converse with them via Facebook but they gave me the same tech spiel as the manual says. I dunno, maybe if my name was Jazzy Jeff or something like that, the response would be quicker. Kinda hoping someone buys them out and can run the system effectively. The productís good but the human side of it, No.

The saga continues...

Well at least it's not me then.

I called PSSL today and they want to give me a gift card for all the delays which was nice.

However, they said they're expecting them next week......

...but he explained there's something weird with phase:

They won't give tracking details to any retailers. Normally, they get tracking details once the items are in transit, sometimes even before that, but phase flat out refuse to send any tracking details to retailers, only an indication of when it should arrive.

I happened to call a local DJ store (that I've know for years but weren't on the approved retailers list) and he said he had some a couple of weeks back (first initial shipment) and is now waiting for the second batch.....

Apparently Phase are purposely holding off shipping any becuase of the glitches they've had. It's not a manufacturing issue in terms of pumping out enough units, they have loads, it's that they still haven't fixed the issues with the faulty calibration and they're overrun with complaints of faulty ones so are not shipping any until they absolutely solve it. This suddenly makes about the tracking info problem.

I'll find out next week if they've fixed it......

AT FUCKING LAST

For all my bitching and moaning, I have to say that this is manufactured BEAUTIFULLY. I mean really well made. I'm surprised they've managed to keep the cost so low.

Going to give them a tryout tonight......if I can find my old battered serato box kicking around.

Otherwise it's Traktor.

Posted by Hides in Shadow on Jun-12-2019 22:50:

Alright, waiting for the review.

Posted by DJ RANN on Jun-13-2019 16:23:

Will def write a full review but Iím now thinking to go with Traktor as I can use my audio interface (with the hex edit trick I posted a while back) rather than being forced to use the old shitty Serato SL1 box as the interface.

....unless someone has figured out how to use Serato without the box yet?

Posted by Hides in Shadow on Jun-13-2019 22:56:

If you're on a Mac like me you can use aggregate just use the SL1 Box just for its inputs and use another card simultaneously, w/e the transfer protocol may be, usb, thunderbolt etc. NI is running a sale on its software and if you pony up no hex edit required with the Traktor 3 Upgrade.

More info here regarding SL1

SL1 Scratch Control with Traktor 3, info here.

Posted by DJ RANN on Jun-16-2019 00:34:

Ta, but now I can't find my old SL1 box.

Going to have to be Traktor 3 with my trusty old Echo Audiofire4 for both input and output.

So Traktor 3 is now fully native (i.e. no NI certified hardware needed)?

Posted by Hides in Shadow on Jun-16-2019 01:58:

You're going need Pre Inputs for scratch control but for and with Phase you don't. So echoaudio fire would be fine and work for outputs and inputs.

If the hex edit works. You don't need to buy anything.

Here read this, I see there issues still with Trakta.

Posted by Brandt Slater on Jun-16-2019 04:15:

Other than the calibration error. Which the warning pop up is now disabled. Itís been good. Still know drift issues. Of course itís running through the A10 interface. Donít know if that helps or not. Only issue is the dead remote and no response from their tech support.

Posted by DJ RANN on Jun-17-2019 18:21:

Cheers for the info lads.

Finally go around to installing and setting up.

My trusty audiofire works a treat and the setup of phase was pretty straightforward. I really haven't played with it enough yet to do a full review but initial impressions are solid.

I have a discrepancy of 0.1% when they're locked to zero via the reset buttong on my mk5gs but that really doesn't bother me. I don't see any flutter and first impressions are they seem to keep time as well a timecode DVS.

It is fucking crazy to me that they've been able to do such precise positioning wirelessly so kudos to them for killing timecode.

My only gripes so far is the lack of absolute mode and the calibration warnings but hopefully the latter will be figured out via software patches from serato and traktor over time.

Posted by Hides in Shadow on Jun-17-2019 23:22:

Glad you got it working..Hmm..I'm skeptical on what to shoot for the end of this month, delay pedal or back with phase.

Posted by DJ RANN on Jun-18-2019 01:18:

Also, just got an email from Phase basically saying they are working on a firmware update to iron out the calibration issue and include gestures - I will be over the fucking moon of they figure out a signal for jump to start of track or a cue point.

Posted by Hides in Shadow on Jun-18-2019 02:25:

I'm honestly agains't phase, the big question on my mind is all that time I spent with a ruler for tone arm height for Concordes and OM Headshells with precise recommended tracking force and custom anti skate (Halfway of Recommended force is best) and bam all that irrelevant with wireless. Is it a revolution in technology? I need to test that shit for myself.

Consider me old fashioned embraced..

Posted by DJ RANN on Jun-18-2019 23:08:

I hear you - everyone on this forums knows my feelings when it comes to DVS; You stop playing an instrument and start playing a PC. The tactile relationship of having a physical vinyl that is the music means you're not disconnecting from the artistic form of playing but that is broken the moment you look at the screen and start engaging the left brain side.

Ideally, I'd love a tiny screen by my decks that I have to look at (not stare at the entire time) and is purely used for loading up the next track. The less engagement with the computer the better,=.

Then there's a sound argument and although vinyl technically isn't as clean as a digital copy, I so much prefer how it sounds through my needles and vestax mixer.

Realistically though, I've bought less than 10 vinyls in the last two years and given my constraints having every track I ever need a few clicks away is a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

Phase just takes the annoying part of out DVS. It doesn't change the art as such - there's nothing you can do on phase that you can't do on Traktor or Serato. It mainly just solved a problem with timecode, the annoying the 1kh tone etc.

Posted by Hides in Shadow on Jun-20-2019 02:24:

Kinda off topic..

Looks like Beatport has a subscription service to their whole catalogue.

Posted by DJ RANN on Jun-20-2019 19:33:

Wat?

You mean, pay a monthly fee and get it all?

Posted by Hides in Shadow on Jun-20-2019 22:59:

Yeah it's called Beatport Link, where you can stream everything onto the supported dj software.
