Sexy desk, and very nice setup (except for the behringer mixer) I was wondering, since I presume you only do studio work, why do you prefer the yamaha sampler above software like kontakt?

Glad to hear you like it. That Behringer mixer is going to be replaced by Mackie VLZ Pro or VLZ3. Not sure which one though yet..VLZ3 should have better EQ but it's a little pricier too..hmm? I use the mixer for stem/group mixing and that Behringer has kind of a messy sound. Also the amount of cola I managed to pour in there once isn't making it any more reliable either..

To be honest, I haven't even turned that Yamaha sampler on in a long time. There's really no use for it anymore. I use Battery for drums and Kontakt/Chameleon 5000 for other samples.

Why are there convoluted foam panels behind your screens Mikk? They don't make any sound

They're there to protect the screens when I get mad and throw them at the wall

No actually I used to have two screens and the speakers were in front of the outermost foam panels. The one on the center was obviously where I sit just to remove flutter echo from between the front and back wall. The screens used to be lower too, below ear level. I suppose the panels aren't thet effective anymore but I just left them as they were.

Great speakers by the way. I've got the same ones

Cheers dude

I used Genelecs on another studio few days ago where we recorded vocals for my friends project. While they're very accurate monitors too, long sessions with even moderate volumes aren't funny. I'm happy with the Dynaudios

Banana Synth

Hi Mikk,

oh shit!

Your JP-8000 is curved in it plastic chassis? Mine too!
JP-8000 is an original banana synth!!

This problem is very ridiculous! another problem is the clicks in attak

Ive upgraded!!

Ive just spent a small fortune (well, to me anyway!) on a new

Behringer 1832FX mixer,
CME UF6 midi controller, and
Alesis M1 MK2 Monitors.

I think I'm going to like them.....!

Can anyone recommend a good desk for my setup?

i don't know why but the fact that it is a bit messy makes it more attractive

Family is visiting me for my graduation so i've had to move all the gear into my bedroom for a few weeks..

love the speaker positioning!

Posted by aquila on Jun-25-2007 12:14:

How far does your equipment fly when you roll over in bed and accidentally kick one of the speaker cables?

Posted by Getafix on Jun-25-2007 23:42:

Heheh its just temporary till my family leaves & i can move into my bedroom again!

Though its not too bad here either, if i get this incredible riff in my head lying in bed at night all i have to do is roll over & switch on the gear

Done with mobile, sorry for the quality. Good enough to give an impression of it though.

Posted by Fledz on Jun-28-2007 05:49:

^^^Does the fact that it's got a slanted roof do anything really funky to the sound? I see you have treated it at the back but how was it before?

Posted by camsr on Jun-28-2007 06:02:

im too claustrophobic for some of these studios
