Iiiiiiiinteresting ... Wonder who is behind this. If it's Ink I would not be too hopeful on a good lineup, if it's the guys that run BPM though then I am thinking that this could be goooood.

Toronto‘s Premier Beach Front Concert Venue
The Beach

Situated just east of Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on the shores of Lake Ontario, Echo Beach is Toronto’s hottest new outdoor concert venue. The 5,000-capacity venue features a real sand beach and offers guests a spectacular view of the downtown Toronto skyline. Echo Beach is a general admission venue with no reserved seating and allows fans to get up-close-and-personal to their favourite bands. Echo Beach made a splash with critics and concert-goers alike during its inaugural year. The 2011 concert lineup saw Sloan, Third Eye Blind and Robyn among other international performers headline the main stage at Echo Beach. In 2012 Echo Beach will offer new enhancements that will allow all guests to enjoy this one of a kind venue in Toronto!

That looks fun!

I think this is going to be put on by livenation.

Awesome!

I was just thinking the other day how cool it would be to have a party at Toronto Island. This will do!

Since I'm going to be one of the few voices of dissent, might as well get the ball rolling...

Detroit gets Movement, Montreal gets Igloofest and Mutek, and we get "Digital Dreams"? The name alone screams exclusion (when there's so much out there on the electronic front that goes well beyond the confines of laptops and midi controllers), and the music in the promo video, along with the obligatory DJ Jesus pose makes me want to throw up in my mouth a little.

I'll do my best to reserve further comment until the lineup's announced, but my gut's telling me this will further cement my belief that modern-day Toronto is the Canadian cultural equivalent of Wonderbread.

Feel free to express to me multiple times how I should be happy that Toronto's getting something of this calibre and if I don't like it, I should just leave...

the name igloofest isnt something to scream about either lol

Posted by Flama Blanca on Apr-03-2012 20:33:

It aptly and cheekily reflects the season in which its held, and the past lineups have been at least somewhat diverse and often impressive, even from my "been there, done that" perspective.

May have well named Toronto's version, "Corporate Cashfest"
