Fuck, time to smoke a cigarette and drink some water and sober up. Did a bunch of adderall and worked on this for like 10 hours. Fuck I'm insane.

Cheers mateys.

As usual, you have a lot of cool stuff going on. Overall, I don't feel like it comes together in this version. The main reason is the vocals don't seem quite in time to me. It is kind of feels like this is a live performance with a sampler or something. But I think this is close to being something cool, especially if the vocals can fit right.

Here's something of me, been a while since I made something.

Personally, I like the atmospheric synth kind of tracks. On the synth with the delays, there sounds like a little distortion, which I think might sound better without it. Overall the song isn't that current sounding to me, kind of a 90's feel, but that that might be the style you are going for.

@TranceLover007
Thanks, I know it's not much, I haven't made anything due to 9 months of fulltime work, so I was happy I came up with something. Ill update this lateron.
@MSZ
There is a lack of bass? I am using headphones and i'm not used to mixing with these. Could use pointers.
@wayfinder
it was intended, ive used sublte basses all the time. Ill probably drop the env mod so itll sound less aggressive.
@Trancelover03591
I was going for james holden sound, didnt work apparently

Listening on a laptop so cant really comment on mixing but the track itself sounds very cool, nice edge to it

There is nothing in your link mate!

Thanks for the comments - the mixing is dreadful on my work pc speakers today - damned I need someone to mix this.

The bass is taking over - I keep shaving away low frequency content - even automating the low freqs to fit with the drums but it's still way too much but when I shave low freqs away it doesn't sound nearly as good and juicey on my studio monitors.

Any suggestions? Do I just keep on removing more low freqs and be brutal about it?

not sure about that kick, wondering what a 909 style kick would sound like there instead

as much as ive commented on your lack of ear for melody you still just put together loops in different keys? cant you hear its not matching? did you get a midi keyboard and try to learn basic keys to avoid this yet? i dont understand what you get out of just putting some random loops together in a 2min intro then start over. wheres the theme? wheres the melody? wheres the drive? wheres what we are to like about the track? its sounds exactly like the rest of your wips, i feel you are actually using the same drum loops in all of them.

Its a basic vengeance uplifting trance kick.

It stays. 909 is kinda outdated.

Bandpass for the mid.

Vengeance and Alchemy put together.

Link is updated now , bit different to d&b now tho

With your track are you limiting the master ?

Some of the perc loops that come in sound a bit loud, maybe try get an overall balance so that you can hear everything but nothing is overpowering other elements

Cant hear the low end on laptop, but not sure if shaving the low end is a good idea, what about just lowing the volume? Is a sub part on its own causing the problems as in do you have the basses split?

Posted by Zak McKracken on Jul-29-2013 15:47:

juan: do you think originality is a sound property? lol. if everyone was using it it wouldn't be original anymore would it? (even though the actual sound would be the same). originality isn't objective you know.
