If nothing is mixed what should we comment on? Arrangement and sound selection is a matter of taste.

Hey don't forget about being in key! ehe

love the musical elements, the vox...

the toms arent working for me - much too forceful and spoiling the groove - i would try dropping them back, high passing them and maybe put a nice reverb on them?

Hell yes I'm feeling this. The percs in the intro are definitely too dry, I know it is not mixed, but when you do, put some sweet reverb on it and automate the verb level so it takes up the energy until the break. Have you applied some swing to the hats? Maybe it could use a bit more, still sounds a bit too mechanical. Very sweet track here.

Posted by kadomony on Nov-18-2014 17:13:

thanks guys. i was trying to figure out what i could add to make the intro not so empty, but might have to do a bit of mixing and put some reverb up on the hats (and swing) as suggested to fill in some space. thanks for the tips!

evo8 yea i'm still working out some better pattern for the 808ish bassline and then i'll pull it back into the mix

Yes. A major one.

Here's my try to make a chilled house track. I did my average, turned out "I don't even know what subgenre it should fit in", any ideas?

I like the modulated distorted bass. The track as a whole feels a little... wet? Though? There's so much reverb and delay on everything that it hurts the groove a lot. The delayed lead doodad that comes in around 1 minute is a little cheesy in my opinion.

There's a lot of stuff to like here though, I like the wobbling subby bass a lot too. And the distorted dark stuff in the break. I think at 2:40 it gets a little busy.

Idk though, most of this stuff just depends on what you were actually going for, if you were going for something that sounds totally spaced out, or something groovy.

This is what I've got going on right now.

Reminds me of the lucozade advert track a lot which oddly enough I made a version of.

Sounds good to me, but will need lots of quirky variation to be really good but knowing you this will all be done anyway.

i enjoy the "ride along" better though. id actually love to remix both of these.

Working on both, Tecnox in particular where I've made a 'massive' break, lol, will post up soon.

Once finished remind me and you can give remixing a go then I could send out a package as it were as long as you do a decent job of course!!

Ok the track is way more done now, I personally like break 2 and the drop there.

Any feedback on anything, mix etc is very welcome.

Posted by Andy28 on Nov-22-2014 22:21:

fuck me Richard, thats a really good track you've made. Well done!

Hats off to you sir!!

The only thing I'm not liking is the stutter edits at the start, its a little over used but that really is me just nitpicking.

that is sounding a lot better why not take ur clap rev it and use the reverb at the start of the clap offset a bit to add a bit of woosh/clap for interest

Just a little melodic idea which hunting me for awhile - I guess I'm still not set on this bass line which I believe could be more driving but sounds good (at least for me) so far - lets see if you agree?

If Trance is not clicking with you guys then this may lol - still lots of things will have to be adjust (like a structure of this track) but you could definitely hear this idea

I like it. Melody gets a bit distracting at 1:04, maybe save the more complex section for transitional parts or a break. It's just building up on the delay too much. The rest is awesome though!

Darius nice melodic work in the trance track there but your second track is like the background to a 1989 Jackie Chan movie as he creeps through the Chinese laundry looking for a thief, lol! But maybe that's what you intend, is this designed for gaming or something?

Yes, yes, how did you figure this out Richard - actually no lol just come up with this concept in about an hour so is still a very rough and a bit unorganized (at the best) but thanks for very visual description of my idea man and really appreciate your comment on my Trance idea brother.

Thanks Sam for you input on this idea - will definitely look at this "delay" element (you mentioned in your replay) and see if I can proportionally move it to a different part of this track -> my idea was to show a middle part of my concept when you could hear most of this melodic and sound elements playing together to get fairly good representation of what I was really after

Appreciate.

Still waiting on Geoff to get to the bottom of my bass line and suggest recreating it from the scratch lol - your turn Mr "TehLord"

This wip's structure is pretty much the same from the other ones, just regular modern progressive. I just made this one for kick placement will get to epic 90's like structure after.
