Here's the Pittsburgh in a track.

Bass and some picky leed duty

Cheers

Here's a more developed version with this truly remarkable synth in a few more places

Note some played by hand made need a retake

Honestly you can do the most satisfying drones and things on this (a little drone is in break but nothing like what its capable of as did not suit the track)

And something experimental -

The meat of this track begins at the minute mark. I can't say I am a fan of the intro due to the kick. Seems muddy and over rides the other percussive elements.
At 2:30, the sub/fuzz bass comes in very nicely and I love the tension rise. imo, if you ride with that bass (instead of the bass at 3:50) and add more of the resonance and cutoff off that filter...it would be a nice progressive change.

thanks, i was never any good at intros!

I agree with System, Evo; get rid of that offbeat bass after the break and put in the break bass in that(maybe add a sub layer), nice work mon. I think this sounds very similar to something you've made in the past if I remember correctly.

Personally, I approach intros differently then the majority.
I know it is ideal for DJ's to have a song that can be introduced and ended well. At least this is how I have always viewed it.
However..
I try to build the percussion with atmosphere whether it be white noise or other bleep, blip sfx. Ive also used Pads or string tones that are filtered with a low pass and slowly introduced melodies that aren't used after that until the ending of the song.
I'll smack on the heavy delays and reverb's for atmosphere as well (on everything lol)*those bleeps and blips sometimes give off very cool resonance to an intro when delayed heavy or reverbed (is that even a word?).
Dunno if this would help you but it certainly helped me

Sounds nice, kick could use a bit more punch and the whole mix feels like maybe you've done a bit too much EQing.

Yes and I've added a big reece now from the Pittsburgh + an intro wailing leed. The snarly bass hits I made in Serum - loving FM editing.

The intro will have some jangly bells etc

Hope I can find right rapper for this

Must admit the big reece is killin me, hope its ok sounding your end?

I'm not sure the sustained main bass is coming through well enough, especially on Ipad etc.

Maybe it should be louder, or have some of the non sub freqs amplified?

Agree with everything sys said. Very nice arps and other fluffy elements here too. Yeah, you could really kill with bassline that starts in the break. If you dare

yeah, the track doesnt really do anything for me as its stands so may revisit

Posted by evo8 on Sep-14-2017 21:36:

tweaked this one

Posted by MSZ on Sep-14-2017 23:34:

Richard that bass is gang shit, im jelly. Evo nice mix and I really like that kick, im a bit polarized by your break, im just curious how it would sound with a dry part layered in, but I think its fine too so dont ask me after-all -__-

I put some more work into my last wip, but Its hit a brick wall, im not really feeling satisfied with it, especially after the break not really keen on that synthish sound but I spent too long trying to puzzle some shit in. I fixed some things but introduced new problems. Maybe its worth a reconstruct if I ever get a good lead sound to replace, and it is a bit muddy/full needs more corrective eq but im trying to move on. Its my therapy to dump it in here before doing so.
