Silva will be pretty cautious of being taken down but once he gets done sizing up Maia for a minute or two the spider will unload. 1st round KO. Maia was probably the best choice they had to replace Belfort, even though some may argue Nate was more deserving, he lost his last fight whereas at least Maia won, not convincingly but still. Obviously Sonnen would have been first choice if he didn't get cut up.

Edit: Actually maybe it will go to the second or third round, only because Silva will want some decent cage time. He'll toy with him until he's had enough.

^ Lol, so it's some big fuck boxing? This is an MMA thread in case you didn't notice, and that dude would gas in about a minute in an MMA fight.

True. I just think Anderson vs. Thiago Silva or Randy Couture would've been much much more entertaining.

Though, he DOES have to defend the belt at least once a year. And in that case, Maia is the best Middleweight.

That guy is 5 time worlds strongest man Mariusz Pudzianowski. While you're probably right, his first fight only lasted like 45 seconds anyway, and probably nobody except the top MMA fighters would be able to last much more than that in the ring with him. In addition to his personal strength records which put him at about a 600 lb bench press and 800 lb squat/deadlift, he actually has decent conditioning for a guy his size. He dropped about 30 lbs from over 300 to 27-something for his first fight. By the way, supposedly he's a 4th kyu green belt in kyokushin kaikan karate...the same style and rank as GSP.

So while I wouldn't say he's near fighting the top guys, he could probably make it pretty far as it is, and taking into account his training dedication for WSM and strength, he could improve a lot in MMA I think.

Too slow imo. Reminds me of the dude that fought Rashad Evans in the Ultimate Fighter Finale.

Posted by DancingMonkey on Feb-15-2010 21:41:

I've been a fan of Marius for a while now. Some of the things he's done in strongman are unbelievable. The most I'll say for his mma tho is that he has good potential. He's strong. He's a trained fighter. He knows how to train hard to achieve his goals. I'll reserve further judgement until he has more fights under his belt.

I do hope he goes for it though. Mma has never seen such a powerhouse.

So was that 45 second fight in boxing or MMA? I don't doubt he could win some MMA fights, one decent punch and he'd knock out pretty much anyone. Would be interesting to see if he could knock out Brock lol. But yeh unless he landed in the first minute he'd be laying on the mat gasping for air.

I've seen Mariusz in Strongmen comps but had no idea he started in MMA. I think he has huge potential given his incredible strength and athleticism. Thanks for posting the fight!

Posted by pitchf0rk on Feb-16-2010 12:13:

Lol, yeh well that's the only way he's gonna win a fight, by unloading in the first minute or two. Didn't expect the leg kick attack early tho haha. I'd be interested to see how he goes against a real MMA heavyweight.

Overtraining. There's more at stake now than there used to be, and guys are trying to get every edge. The problem is, their trainers haven't learned yet when to say enough is enough.

Alright Cro Cop, you are fighting a light heavy weight fighter who has less than two days notice. Win damnit!

I have no words to describe how much Frank Mir got owned last night. Simply unreal the beating he took from Carwin.

Posted by Boomer187 on Mar-29-2010 13:57:

Carwin is soo hot right now!

Ok, so I wasn't home last night. I was out. But from reading reviews, UFC 112 has been mired in controversy. I will be watching the fights shortly.

I am reading from some BJ shouldn't have lost [extremely shocked he did], and Dana is pissed off with Anderson Silva's "lackluster performance." Oh the drama.

Posted by SuspicionVandit on Apr-12-2010 05:45:

Dan Murgliatta landed more shots on Silva than Maia

Posted by Boomer187 on Apr-12-2010 06:00:

Anderson was a scary angry man in teh 2nd round. Then in the 5th when maia manned up Anderson did nothing.

BJ just didn't do enough. And I guess Frankie did just enough. Too bad now, Florian will destroy Frankie...and I do not like florian.

Frankie won the fight. people are making excuses for BJ.

and Anderson is way too sensitive. he needs to leave his personal vendetta baggage at the door and fight not clown around and disrespect his opponents. he really turned into an asshole that night.

on the flipside i gained respect for Maia.
