Liking this. But yeah, kick takes too much space.

gordan? This is yours??
Very much dig this concept from you. I am going to listen a few times more as I think you deserve a serious critique with this. At least to my ears , I am really liking this and it has great potential
. Back after while

edit
These are just some observations :

Pads are really nice. However I believe they are to high in the mix and very prevalent. A nice glow imho would sound better.

Sub region could be bumped up. Is your sub in mono? It seems like its very spread out. The movement is nice and straight forward however on your note transitions I am wondering if it couldn't use a little portamento.

That melody with the gate and the low pass is very moody..really nice overtone.

I think you could use a little more work on your percussion. Albeit, very straight forward, very small bleeps, clicks and small fx would add some fill in space.

EQ...keep isolating each track, each tone. Build some depth in the lowend. Balance the mid range and add some sharpness to the higher frequencies.

Good Job! Want you to continue with this and want to hear it finished

Wow, thanks! Drums are not mine, it's a loop i found in studio one, but i think it blend nicely here.

I was mixing this on headphones and some cheap logitech 2.1 system. Yeah, the sub is floaty.

Thanks for your observations and advices, and your time to listen, i'll do my best to finish this!

Sounds like really cool idea (melodically speaking) and would definitely put some additional effort to finish it but (if I can suggest) I would bring drums more up to the front and play more with widening your image to push some freq forward and some back (to create sense of space between your instruments/freq.)

Cheers,

Darek

After some necessary break in my creative work I finally started to work on some new stuff and here is small preview of my WIP (no drops, uplifters and FX yet lol):

Appreciate guys,

Darek

Maybe is just me, but I think it would work great with a more aggressive bass line (fast paced) ^^

Thanks for comment, Darek. I like your idea, it's a short snippet though.

Hey Darek I like the bass and drums so far - but personally speaking the pads are not really in keeping - I thought you might bring is some big stutter type synths perhaps

BTW - what for you is the best dynamics processor for bringing synths to life?

Posted by TranceLover007 on Dec-12-2016 20:27:

Thanks guys for your time and suggestions, appreciate.

Richard currently I'm looking at U-he HIVE synth and really liking it so far from many different angles and most of my sounds in this WIP are from this particular program. As far as dynamics of my sounds, hmmmm, comes from cleaning up most of them with EQ (which creates some needed space in freq) and also with slightly compressing it to cut some spikes out of it. I would also suggest to look at this free VST "Engineers Filter" Engineers Filter

Just one more thing - I'm also working on widening my sounds to bring forward some more important elements and push back some background sounds + panning will give you some more benefits in some cases lol

I will look to release this one, back to my DnB

Anything nasty such as the singing maybe?

Posted by SystematicX1 on Dec-13-2016 21:43:

Richard, I am wondering if the vox chops couldn't be transposed a few octaves higher

you seem to still be experimenting around, i think its important to do that from time to time
this is ok not sure about the drums how they fit in

like it Rich but it sounds a bit dry, could maybe put some reverb on the synths just to give the track a little more depth

Few things I would suggest from my side (if you are OK with lol) - so far I'm missing some background sustaining and wide with lots of reverb on it pad sound which would give you really nice atmospheric and gluing sound for this whole WIP -> also this empty space right before piano kicks in should have some kind of filler to nicely transition you to this (piano) part which could also be a bit more creative {if you know what I mean lol), you definitely can start very soft and slow but could also evolve to a bit more complex and passionate part.

Dig that rough bass groove. Has that kind of Joel bassline. I'm wondering if it couldn't use a little sidechain on it to blend the kick

Yeah, drums are still in developing stages as I would like them to sound as dynamic and driving as possible + in my mind drums by itself should almost sound like track on it's own. As far as bass line concern -> yes I'm sidechain it already but I still will explore more different settings and options to have this more aggressive and in your face bass line - appreciate man..

You just grab my latest uploaded WIP (which I replaced today lol)

Ok, so still working on this one but middle of the road I felt it was lacking something. I am not good at making a lead (which I felt it needed) and then I thought about adding some vocals.
I stumbled upon this small clip of this female vocalist and it sounded fairly compatible. Decided to add it and found it fell flat in areas (I have included the vocal stem in full at the end of this tester to show as an example) and then I started working on chopping them up and use them as a replacement for a melody. Not sure If I am using it to much

If you have NI Maschine you could do something really cool with your vocals chops lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DleM_GuCi8s

think this is the track you posted before, still doesnt really slam in properly after the drop for me and id lose the vocals completely, they take away from the track
try to resist the temptation to add more stuff to a track, all you are doing is reducing the space
