Fucking Christ Mel.

Please don't tell me you actually programmed all that in.

i'm hoping you just got the midi file from 2k for shits and giggles?

Posted by Mel David on Mar-31-2019 01:29:

You can see in the beginning of the video that it is a MIDI file programmed by Don Carroll, so yeah I did it for fun & I did it the lazy way. No need to reinvent the wheel. It's just a simple remapping of instruments from standard General Midi to more boutique samples. I will be jamming to it though as I want to turn it into a rodeo/circus/harsdstyle fusion stomper. It's fun linedancing to this tune!

Haha fantastic! Just waiting for the good old EDM snares here and there and big kicks. Enjoyed this one!

Switched to Ableton. Making the Horse & Knitter track with my new neighbor convinced me to switch. My first take in Ableton in years, still rough as I'm only just starting.

Posted by DJ RANN on Apr-01-2019 18:28:

Love what you're putting out ST.

The previous one was exactly the sort of thing that reminds me of what perfectly suits and was played at Amante Ibiza. Really nice production.

Congrats on the switch to ableton. I'm hoping to start producing again and thinking about going to ableton as logic just seems to be clunky/have timing issues/bugs that annoy me.

I love what you did with the perc on this. Do I hear two different reverbs rooms on those higher pitched perc samples?

I like! funny that i only just saw the video of you having your wicked way with that poor horse in the studio on FB and now here you are lol!!

the pads and the hats/percussion are lovely, nice even, flat mix already

constructive crit: I might like to feel more bass/more spank in the toms and feel they are contributing to the low end more, in between the kicks, or some other bass element down there. Will be interesting to see how this one turns out!

It has some pretty cool tones on this piece. I like the atmosphere you are projecting but that gated bass is not appealing to the mix imo.

Not sure how you are approaching this track (or any other track for that matter) but this is a very airy piece. Sounds very cool yet at the same point very hard to determine on it's own what kind of structure the song would hold.
If I may suggest a different approach. Again, not sure what kind of headspace you are in recently with beginning tracks but. I have found that creating my percussion tracks first have allowed me more flexibility on song composition. It allows me to figure out what kind of tempo I want to use and then I can add parts (like the one you just created). Dunno, just a suggestion.
I just have always found that working with melody first seems to draw me in to many directions and I cant solidify the feel I am looking for.

Thanks Phil. I always create melodies first but i'll try your approach next time

Thanks man, this version I uploaded to SC is prior to automating the filter on the bass. I actually have the newest version. It's still not a complete track. At this point Im still concentrating on putting the right sounds together so that they create that atmosphere you like. And I'm still trying to get to the point where I actually want to do all the other stuff in order to complete the track. like convert midi to audio files, and major eqing, and then doing the arrangement with the audio files instead of having it just come from synths. But here's the newest version. That bass should sound a little bit better.

You got something really good going on in there - nice vibe Mac and I would boost this kick to have a bit more punch and cut a cross your mix better.

Cheers,

Darek

haaah, i had a feeling you were heavily involved in that thread, but i wasnt sure so just reckoned you meant music. nah, havent made many firecrackers, but i make some amazing weedsghetti lol. had best use from just boiling some hash in high fat veggie oil for medication. oh, and i make insane oils/extracts, threw together a diy rosin presss. made some awesome red shatter from maroccan sativa that i cured under moonlight, that way you get indirect light that's bounced off the moon rather than direct sunlight which degrades it too much. it tasted like menthol due to the high cbn count, awesome sleeptime meds :P

thinking of quitting tho... at least smoking it.. gonna get my mate to grow a super high cbd strain for me though, see if it works better than this spaceweed that blasts you straight into cosmos. not that I "mind" the trip, but the entities that reside there? not a fan :P especially after I told them I was changing teams lol :P
i've been on clonazepam from my doc for the last 3 or 4 years, been unknowingly straining my body un-necessary. which is something i've found out recently, as I'm still 'waking' up from quitting the clonazepam last christmas, like seriously 4 months of withdrawal symptoms and counting lol... but yeah, music wohoo

Posted by MSZ on Apr-19-2019 17:15:

cmon bruh dont take stuff. I had a perscription for high cbd stuff but it got expensive after legalization here and didnt bother with it.(I was getting like 10grams free every 2 months lol) 15% cbd 0.1% thc strains, and half n halfs, the terps were radiated though, they were pretty shot, we only have one good supplier right now thats organic and doesnt nuke the terps and its about $20 canadian per gram after taxes, so yea/

Just curious but have you tried CBD?

Posted by MSZ on Apr-20-2019 18:18:

yikes, sorry men. you're best off with using cbd oil rather than bud, but you build up a tolerance rather quick, and full spectrum cbd oil is not cheap, and you also have to expirement with different carrier oils and it does happen to matter. I know there is some hemp varient cbd extraction which is cheap but you need some thc in there and the costs add up quick, you might be lucky for a tax deductible.
