Question for you folks (especially Boomer, if you're lurking):
Ignoring price, where are the best seats for seeing these live? I may have my pick for an upcoming one, but I have never actually been to a fight...or any center-stage arena event, for that matter. Is it ringside? How many rows back? Lower bowl? Front of the upper? Suites? Club level? Any particular direction? Help!

Originally posted by Boomer187 The $300 lower bowl ones are not bad, and anything more expensive is obviously kick ass. Always try for the sides of the arena, but it is amazing how well you can see the ring and the fighters even far back. It is a completely different experience than watching at home. its odd not having an announcer, and everything happens to quick with no camera change But nothing was greater than when Rampage knocked out Chuck. You can jump around at home and scream, but when you are jumping and screaming next to 10,000 people...madness! I am sure the same was felt at Mandalay when Silva landed that kick. |

No clue what ringside is like. The bowl is good though.
i plan on scalping massive tickets for UFC 129 and making maximum jew profit. wish me luck.
There's some serious bullshit going on with ticketmaster right now...

Originally posted by Zyklon_Jay if silva fights gsp don't expect him to try and kick at all. the most you will see is knees in the clench...george is too good of a wrestler to start throwing wild kicks...silva will end up on his back if he does this. The catch weight fight would be interesting...i can see st pierre just working the jab until he sees an opening to take him down...the problem with this fight is that it will most likely be boring. When Silva fights primo opposition he does not take chances and is the most boring fighter in the UFC. They are both "counter move" fighters...so unless one goes on the offensive, i can see 5 rounds of a lot of nothing happening. |
striking = advantage anderson...gsp is good on his feet, but not in the same class and does not have that power.
ground = advantage gsp. george has top notch bjj and is a world class wrestler.
let's get through Jake Shields first...but he is over rated and we will see him dominated in Toronto.

Shield's last fight was beyond unimpressive against someone not even qualified to shine gsp's shoes.
Thanks, Jay. I guess I'll see what strings can be pulled, or else go to the normal seats.
And GSP is going to destroy Shields. Even if you want to claim that his wrestling is better (which is debatable) and that therefore, he will, somehow, be the first person to figure out how to take down GSP, he has a huge disadvantage once he's there. Only chance is a lucky punch.

it would be fun to see GSP strike with someone again. He seems to rely on his wrestling with everyone since that Serra upset.
But he will probably still take shields down and dominate him.
agreed...but gsp is changing up every fight...for instance we never saw him use the jab as a primary tool from him as against koscheck. He seems to change game plans depending on the fighter.
Also don't forget that George is not a knockout specialist. He can do it but...
Also i think when you are the champ you can dictate the pace and let the opponent come to you. GSP is a counter guy, so he knows in a 5 rounder he can sit back a bit and let his opposition try and press him, creating openings for him.
He knows that if the opposition does not move forward, they can't win the fight. It is so different fighting as a champ than a contender. GSP fights with purpose, not emotion.
War, Fedor!
For real!
Can't wait for tomorrow night.
FEDOR WHO? MOTHAFUCKIN BIGFOOT!
dat eye
2 careers ended tonight
Fedor surviving that second round is the single most AMAZING thing I have seen in all my years of watching MMA. No question. I wish they would have kept on fighting. I am more impressed with Fedor in defeat than I am in victory. I am speechless.
Bigfoot Silva is no joke. All the props in the world to him.
I wish we could have seen round 3.
