Darek as ever the production sounds solid but the track is quite static and monotone. The vocal melody could be a lot better. Some more interesting chord changes would also help.

It sounds ok so far but for me there's not enough of a track / idea to really know if it's worth perusing. Depends where you intend to take it after this intro. Knowing you it will be somewhere interesting

I really love the sound of those characteristic plucks you use, you presumably put them through some nice warming process, what do you use for this? I think maybe you mentioned PSP Vintage Warmer?
I might be wanting to buy some sort of colouring / warming dynamics I just use Cubase really at the moment since I rebuilt my PC.

Actually I have three of them with EQ8, compressor and limiter on it - nothing more, lol - it may be a good idea to throw some from of warming effect on it but for now I don't have it.

This is all what I need Richard (as far as production) -> as the rest (melody, FX fillers, etc.) I can make it really sexy lol.

Cheers man,

Darek

I actually like this short WIP (as this is very close what Anakratis is producing) - got some suspended and intriguing feel to it and with proper development can grow to something very elegant and memorable.

You should use more of those bass FX/fillers cutoff/morphing (like in 0:32)

Yeah, looks like Richard replace the original (first) version with the new one which sounds much better and yes you really need (Richard) some cool vocal on top of this production.

they seem relatively loud in the mix and also they dont have too much cut off the low-end yet but still dont sound muddy.

Never underestimate the power of the volume fader

has potential, defo

for me, bit muddy in the low-mids, could EQ out some of that area i think, bit too much going on

Guys,

Need some help with this...
Is it me or is this vocal stem fucked.
I am having a very difficult time working around this because it is drowning out everything. I can't get the vocal right at all,it's either to loud or to soft. Seems hot as hell to me or severely compressed.
Please tell me it's not me.

Yeah, that's just a quick mockup of what to include. Right now I'm trying to come up with some kind of an unconventional lead for it. Not really sure whether to keep it subtle or to go full on. This might be the one for the next Colours as it's pretty far from what I usually do.

Damn, this is pretty have process vocal lol - I'm not sure how you could hid it in your production unless you have good amount of instruments playing around it then it would be almost impossible to hear it.

Cheers,

Darek

Thanks D...
Yea, I dont know what to do. The song is turning out great but these vocals..ugh

Posted by Richard Butler on Aug-28-2015 19:38:

Hard to know how to offer advice but would your track work if you kept it mainly to the bass end with quiet synths so the vocal can fill the space?

Put up the track with the vocals so I can here wut you got

Posted by SystematicX1 on Aug-28-2015 19:45:

Thanks Richard.
This is a TOTAL WIP and alot of things are just placemats atm. I'm having a difficult time adjusting EQ with this and so my arrangement is screwy.

Sounds pretty epic to me mate up until 1.34 where it goes out of time sync, but u can fix that

rofl that's all I've gotten so far
So, the box stem isn't messing with your ears?
It sure as hell is mine

I actually like the way it is, adds some cool and weird effect to this vocal and make it sound really interesting - lots of latest EDMs use this tactics recently lol

So does the break go with this track? I think it does but I just want to be sure.

Remember vocals are yet to be done this is very much a vocal track.

Nice one, reminds of late 1990s prog house.

thanks for listening to mine

id be wary of how you are going to fit vocals into that track, id be inclined to make them incidental as track is quite full already!
