How do you like the Cortex's? What kind of pitch resolution have they got?

Yeah, I really like the Vestax too!

The Cortex players are pretty good - I mean, they're no CDJ-1000s, but they're also a 3rd of the price. The main reason I got them is so I don't have to burn a ton of CDs all the time. Oh, and they have .05% pitch resolution.

P.S. I expected to get completely ridiculed having anything so closely associated with Gemini lol - they're really not that bad imo

Fuck what everyone else thinks, as long as you're happy with it then you're laughing Job done, you're having a fun.

Currently building an attachment to my desk to accommodate my laptop and KRKs.. possibly making a quick stand so the 4D is a little more direct.

how do u like the Xone4d? Do u use it ableton?

Posted by Waterproofpaper on Jul-05-2009 18:38:

I like the control on it a lot.. im currently learning traktor scratch which im enjoying a lot more than i thought. Im lagging with ableton since learning all the features of traktor is pretty fun.

Hopefully i wont get lazy and learn ableton soon haha. My old copy of live 7 is just rotting on my computer.

Yeah, the 4 band eq is really topnotch stuff, still cant imagine how i could live without it before.
I also love the faders, smooth as silk and "softer" feel/sound when you pull up/down, comparing to djm800's digital.
The sound is great too, you can really here the diference beetween warm analog and cold digital sound, specially when you put on a "real" vinylrecord.

Cheers mate! I downloaded your latest set Savage Stuff Sessions and i really liked it! I play almost the same stuff :-D

Posted by Waterproofpaper on Jul-07-2009 00:48:

It does sound a lot different.. as long as youre able to notice it. A lot of people like the digital sound, but the warm sound from the 92 makes all the beats sound so much smoother.

LOL, i really have to change that name.. It was a piss take among friends (being Irish we say Savage Stuff quite a bit) but never ended up changing it.

Which number did you download? 05? 01 was the first set i ever recorded.
Going to change the name and create a new website for 'em. Just not sure what i should use to create the website...

Thanks though. Pretty much have identical setup to you just different versions of everything (bar 92) MK 3D techs, older MBP, TSP (and i have the Fader Fox DX2, which is a great little unit)..

Meant to ask you, did you make the stands for the monitors yourself? They're at a perfect height (done on purpose i'm sure) but i've never seen stands so tall!

It was 05, nice tracks and good mix, its in my iphone now
Yeah i saw your stuff and it looks very good. I had the older mbp but wanted the mb because its lighter and takes little space when im out on gigs.
Right now i have Serato and refused to give it up because it works so stable wherever im playing, it has never caused a single problem with vinyl or cd, but TSP has caught my attention cause of the fx and looping. I want a reverb and some delays but thats it. I dont like the interface of tsp though, very confusing and "windows stylish".
But if i get TSP im gonna get either Faderfox DX2 or XONE1D. I think its maybe easier with DX2 cause if its small size, out on gigs

About the monitor stands: Samson MS200, they are perfect! They can even be set at higher height if you want to. I bought them from a Swedish dj store called www.djservice.se. If you mail them maybe they can help you, the only cost about 90 euro. Its alot cheaper than many other stands ive been looking at.

Good luck mate!

2002 All gone!

Posted by Demoted on Jul-12-2009 14:56:

my setup now after I bought some Technics:

2x Technics 1200 m3ds
2x Pioneer cdj 200s
1x Numark DXM06
1x Sony MDR 7506 headphones

and there's the UC-33e in there that I haven't used much.

yeah, I know the room's messy but I'm moving out in a few weeks and will hopefully have a new room specifically for music/dj stuff.

The Technics themselves came with cartridges (Shure Whitelabels) but they're already pretty much shot. Any suggestions on the cheapest/best set of cartridges out there? I could probably get the styli replaced but I want to start out on a clean slate sorta. Also, one of the grounding wires on the one table is torn, the guy that previously owned them just stripped the casing and made a new ending I guess for it and it works, but how much do you think that'd cost to get replaced? I might make another thread for those two questions

Other than that the tables seem to be in perfect working order. They need cleaned still, but everything appears to be operating smoothly. I can't wait until I have room to have it all hooked up at once and have my cartridges replaced.

Next on list to buy:

cartridges
traktor scratch duo
and a new 4 channel mixer (almost decided on a used xone, but wouldn't mind a korg or pioneer)

Thanks! I think I pretty much have everything where I want/need it. Just need to upgrade to CDJ1000, but not currently a priority
