FAO SYSTEM-J

What's the record in your avatar?

Posted by WittyHandle on May-10-2012 06:37:

I think you're taking trainspotting a little too far.

It's not a record (or at least, I don't think it is), it's the logo for a techno night in Leeds called Future-Past. They basically only book names like Joey Beltram and CJ Bolland who used to play at The Orbit.

EDIT: It's not in my avatar because of any affiliation with or particular support for Future-Past (although '90s techno in an old factory = awesome), it just illustrated a custom title I had a year or two back, and I've never bothered to change it.

Im surprised no one has started a "explain your handle and avatar" thread yet.

We have had at least one in the past. You should start another, it's been a while.

Not to mention most of the answers are now irrelevant.

What no longer a fan of System-F? Assumed by your handle Out of the Blue was one of the first trance songs that got you into trance.

HELL YEAH, CJ BOLLAND!

To endyo's defense System-J is very knowledgeable in music. Also, he goes to a ton of shows that people that live Atlanta and San Antonio would only dream of having that opportunity of. We like what he has to say (me included).

He could have sent a PM but were about making Threads these days.

Fuck off and die.

Thanks, Jack. I just really love that logo, wanted to know what it was from.

I meant more that most people have changed their avatars or even their names since that thread... but sadly no, I can't really listen to System-F anymore. You're right: back in 2003 I was a huge Ferry fan and Out of the Blue was a big favourite, but I can't really listen to those tracks now. There are plenty of old uplifting trance tracks I still have nostalgic love for, but System-F tracks don't do it anymore for me. The only Ferry tracks I can still play are Lost In Motion and maybe his remix of Ransom - My Dance. The rest are too cheesy.

I actually had chance to see him back in March. He was playing at Passion and I was there, but I spent the whole night in the Red Room locked in the groove with Dave Seaman and John 00 Fleming. It never even crossed my mind to go and see Ferry. By all accounts he was dogshit anyway.

I can't help but nostalgically giggle at this, considering what was written back in the day. If only Cinos could see you now.

Do you really want me to bring up that time you said Xpander was Sasha's debut single?

Posted by Desiderata on May-11-2012 05:42:

I was the listening to some trance cheese. Ever heard the original of Touch me. Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Posted by WittyHandle on May-11-2012 06:06:

Rui da Silva's Touch Me? That is neither trance nor cheese.

Honestly, never tried it.

I do love Touch Me. I have it on single somewhere, found it in a bargain bin for £0.99. I remember the DJ finished on it at one of the first proper nights I ever went to. Special memories there.

Posted by Desiderata on May-11-2012 06:45:

It is a CD with Sandstorm and other songs that I ended up in a box. Pulled it out jammed then went on. Now I feel hype for another listen.

Posted by Quazar on May-11-2012 06:56:

I have that CD. "Trance Party".

I used to buy CDs named "Trance Party".

Them's was the days...
