Getting shot for being black in American isn't new, and this is becoming less about justice and more about sensationalism in the media, but this story is spreading like a wildfire.

The main reason this is a huge story, picked up by national media and so on and so forth, (imo) is because most people initially thought it to be a case of white on black violence. If it were a case of black on black violence (as it almost always is, and no that isn't racist, it's statistics) then it wouldn't be getting the same attention.

Now, of course it's fucked up BUT we don't know everything that happen. We have the cries of racism being countered with cries of reverse racism. Soon we'll be dealing with sideways and upside down racism in this case. Personally, I don't care whether it was a 'hate crime' or not as the very notion of a 'hate crime' being worse than a 'crime' is fucking stupid. Can't we just talk about the guy committing a 'crime' ?? Why isn't that enough?

So, I got called a Wigger yesterday and I'm not saying the cool kind spelt like Wigga that me and homies use, no this was full the on Wigger with the 'er' at the end of it. My son heard this and later walked into my room last night with a with Capri Sun in his hand and and tears in his eyes and he stopped and looked up at me and said, "Papa, what's a Wigger"? And it was the saddest moment in my life since I got my Honda repossessed.
It's a tragic event of course and I have a heart about issues like these but in the large scale, these type of things happen a lot all over the world (some places more than others) and the reason for all this attention is because the story is unclear. It will be figured out in the end, and then the next big unsolved case will be bill boarded on the mediums.

This is something I've seen far too often: People know what happen before they're told the details of what actually went on. And that usually applies to both sides of any debate, it's appalling, really.
