congrats! i'd never heard of a dreadbox erebus before so i had to check out a couple youtube videos, it sounds really nice. i'm kind of confused though, i skimmed the sonicstate video for it and i thought he said it can have 2 voices but in this video, the guy plays triads at 15:56

Yeah Dreadbox are (wait for it....) a Greek synth company.

I've been watching them for a couple of months now but always thought they sounded fantastic. Build quality is very good. Metal case with Moog quality knobs (no wobble at all) and wooden end cheeks.

I've bought the Hades as well which is a bass synth, but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep that or not yet.

I'll do a couple of sequences with the Analog 4 and see how I feel.

In that video it looks like he has the Minibrute playing one of the notes as the Erebus is definitely two note paraphonic. There is no third oscillator for sure.

oh ok i gotcha, it's has 2 oscillators and is monophonic or duophonic if you use divide-down. it sounds really good, i love hearing demos of obscure synths like that, to hear their unique character/timbre.

I'm curious to hear your opinion on the Analog 4. i mean the sound speaks for itself but I've heard multiple people mention a rather difficult learning curve, that it sometimes deters them from using it as much as they'd like. but then when they do use it again, they're reminded how "worth it" it is to not be intimidated and just use it. i guess the Analog 4 has its own workflow that must be different from what everyone is used to. I've never had the privilege to play one. is its step sequencer difficult or more complicated than a typical step sequencer? or is it something else about the Analog 4 or Elektron boxes in general that make people say it has a difficult learning curve?

congrats on the new gear!

Well first thing I'd say is that the Analog 4 sounds awesome. I've read plenty of comments online about how it lacks character but that's just bollocks. It doesn't sound the same as a 30 year old analogue synth does, but who gives a crap? Oddly, what it reminds me of most is a Virus. It just has a very nice, organic quality to it.

The UI is complicated, but no more so that any other complicated synth. If anything I'd say it's easier to use than a Virus (for example). It's very logical in its layout.

I think people have issue with it because the way the Elektron machines work is fairly unique. I haven't fully got to grips with the sequencer yet, but I also understand that there will be a learning curve. Because it doesn't work like any other product and because people aren't used to that they make an assumption that it's complicated to learn because it can do complicated things when it's really not. It just takes a few days commitment.

lol

I generally use all my machines, and the CD decks and mixer below I couldn't find extra space for (I hardly use them) so just left them there...

I think the Analog 4 might be the best thing I've ever bought.

And I have bought a lot of things, over a very long period of time

i hear that! Yeah, the Elektron drum machines are pretty sweet (seems like they're worth the price).

Love this:

Still waiting to get a Yocto 808 case and then hopefully find someone to build it for me.
