I loved Doubt. What amazed me was how both sides were credible, so you had to rely on reading the expressions of each of the two characters to see which one you believed. Pure acting. Also, the way they ended it just left you wondering what good it did to just move him along. Really made me feel I understood the whole phenomenon much better.
It was also the first movie that made me see what Meryl Streep was capable of, and since then I've put more effort into seeing her other work. She's amazing.

I was simply amazed at Philip Seymour Hoffman holding his own against Meryl Streep in that incredible scene between the two in his office. That's the kind of scene you'd expect to see in textbooks for drama schools!

That scene was incredible. Personally, I thought she won out there in terms of intensity. Throughout the movie though, even her less powerful scenes, just her ability to express even a passing emotion was simply amazing.

I honestly expected her to school him through that scene, but afterward, I just think they both held their own.

I think the intent was for them to be presented as each holding their own, hence the stalemate. Maybe I was just so floored with her performance throughout the film that I was biased at that point. Guess I should see it again.
