Komisarek is one of the worst Leafs on the team. He should be playing basketball instead.
He has one point and tons of penalty minutes.
What's he getting again? 4.something million?
Ponikarovsky has really improved, IMO. He's been using his size to protect the puck and challenge guys, plus he's been working hard to bring it to the net.
His goals have actually been hard-earned
Leafs are playing well, lately, but they're not exactly playing top teams |
I have to disagree, Komisarek has been playing really well the last two weeks, I just think he needed his grounding. Just because he has one point doesn't mean anything, we didn't get him for that, that's why he never plays the PP. He is great in one on one battles and played really well against Ottawa the other night, prob his best game of the year so far.
Poni is the man, defensively and offensively. Stajan too, he's getting a lot of good chances and I will take his 10 goals this season so far.
Blake is really the only one I can complain about at this time, it was painful to watch him play in Ottawa, his goal was shit and his chances are worse. he's dead weight and he need to get rid of him.

You need to stop hating on Kessel, his shot actually is placed and can roof it no problem. That goal he scored against Ottawa was beautiful and that's why we got him, to be a game changer.
As for Blake? He is awful, the last game he came in down the wing and had an open side and just skated right into the only defenceman? His shot is awful and always right at the goalie, he never produces rebounds and trys way to hard with the puck. I say worst player on the team, get rid of him. |
If blake was let go I would have no problem with that but don't think Kessel is much different then blake...they both play the same style of hockey. Kessel lacks defensive ability and passing ability...just like blake. I've seen kessel shoot the puck into the chest of the goalies just as much as blake. Kessel will score goals because he has a quick release and he shoots from everywhere. Unfortunately, he only has one type of shot and eventually teams will stop him. When blake was younger he did the exact same thing.
I don't hate Kessel at all...I just think he isn't as special as people make him out to be. I think Burke needed to make a deal to get Kessel because they needed someone up front but I still think they gave up way to much for him. He hasn't proven anything yet except in a contact year. The leafs traded away a lot for him and you should be getting a 100 point player with what they traded away and I don't see 100 point player in Kessel.

I know Komi wasn't acquired for scoring/assisting goals, but up until just recently (talkin past 2 or 3 games) he's done practically nothing to help the team.
I was a big Poni hater for a long time, but some kind of switch must have went off in his head letting him realize he's a big dude and has power. I'm very happy with how he's playing now.
And you're right, Stajan is making a difference, too.
Blake just can't get it together. I'd like to feel sorry for the guy but the way he plays just doesn't allow for much sympathy.

I am still waiting for more from Kessel. All I see with him is another blake with a faster release on the puck. |
Kessel has far more vision than Blake. Black will skate into impossible situations, at least Kessel will go in having a plan B.
Oh, and he actually scores.. unlike Blake.
Still, I agree with you on the fact that Kessel came at a decent price.. but that price has yet to be established.
I'm sure Burke foresaw that we were going to be about middle of the pack in terms of draft, so we shouldn't be giving up that much.
