I'm pretty sure it was the blackmarket guys that that set all that up for them?

I honestly can't remember. Boa must have ponied up at least a piece of the booking fee.

I have known Mills to bank as much as Tiesto for some gigs (and more for others).. but then I have heard of Tiesto making about $100,000 to spin for a few hours in Colombia and Mills wouldn't even get 1/3 that.
It all depends.. but as far as techno DJs go, Mills is definitely one of the highest paid... and there are only a handful of DJs in that range.. most are paid much much less.

Fack, I assume this "in demandness" translates into amazing sets and means hes a phenominal DJ? I really need to hear some (MANY!) sets of his then!
I love finding new techno sets and artists!

well... I'm not the biggest Mills fan but I definitely respect what he has done over the years. He will be the first to admit his sets are not flawless but that is also because he is technically quite daring, mixing up to 60 records on 3 turntables in an hour or so. not many people even attempt that type of feat.
He is usually singled out as being a major influence to many of his peers, on par with few others except for maybe someone like Laurent Garnier.
I think the projects he has done in recent years like the Exhibitionist DVD, and the new one Blue Potential with the Montpellier orchestra, have been great! looking forward to seeing what he will do next.

I suspect Mills makes 30-40K.
Blows my mind...I respect what he's done but that's a retarded amount of money.
That said, he deserves it more than tiesto does.

i doubt he makes that much... and only because I've seen contract for quite a few "big name" DJs. I would think in europe he would probably get more around 15-20k? in north america.. i don't think he's worth more 10k... i'm sure he's been paid more.. but I don't think he's worth it... and in Toronto... I personally wouldn't pay him more 7500. I really don't think it would be worth it otherwise.
DJs pay is based largly on their draw. If a DJ can draw 5000, 10,000 or 15,000 people based on their name alone.. then they will be paid accordingly. Tiesto pulls the numbers so he makes the coin.. why he draws the numbers boggles my mind though

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Sonic is doing just as good if not better business-wise than Boa did? If Mills played here now vs. when Boa opened, I think he'd be a big enough draw to more than pack the place; especially considering techno seems to be picking up here as of late.
And filling Sonic would be considered a successful night from a money standpoint.

There was a set posted back in this thread of Mills with Slam from Essential Mix this year (T in the Park event). Awesome example of what he can do. (it's on the first page of the thread)
You are already into Liebing I believe, Leibings' in my top three along with Mills and Clarke. Check out Dave Clarke... and Marco Bailey as well.
I can go on but I'd recommend to start with these ones. They are the Kings

I wasn't speaking strictly in terms of Toronto...here in Toronto we don't have an event or venue comparable to some of the events/venues he has played in Europe that would require the kind of coin I suggested (which was definitely on the high end)
So, in any case, it's safe to say Activate isn't bringing mills anytime soon.
