Man, I really need to say, this remix is terrible. Isn't just the awful noise, or the fact that the entire track is boring as hell... I mean, they even misspelled "platypus" wtf

why the fuck they released this

As pointless as the recent Space Manoeuvres ‎– Stage One remixes. Maybe if they commissioned The Digital Blonde for that one, although he seems to have been losing his touch, as well.

Combination of bad taste and the fact that it doesn't cost anything to release in digital. They really have nothing to lose, except perhaps some dignity.

I could see from the remixers I wouldn't enjoy this

I think this thread may be about current Platipus stuff, but I found all the Platipus Records Volumes on spotify and have been having a ball going through them.

Looks like we have a third remix as well this time by Matt Holliday.

I agree the first two remixes are both trashcan material, Matt Hollidays remix was definitely the best out of the three for me personally.

Here's a 4th remix by RPO. Finally something worth listening to.

Doesn't sound anything like Octopus, though.

None of these sound like the Original and Man With No Names remix, you can hear some similarities with the vocal chants in RPO's remix but that's about it. Possibly a smart move to try and offer something different since the original release is already so superb?

I like the bassline in RPO's remix and it sounds a lot more laid back than the original, if the remix tried to sound exactly the same I would probably just be stuck listening to the original release so I actually like what RPO did. Best one for me out of the 4.

Rick Pier Oneil is a very competent remixer, though this is a poor effort from him. Not impressed at all.

It's amazing that one of the most powerful Art of Trance tracks generates some awkwardly dull and lifeless remixes.

Massive fail.

A remix shouldn't sound exactly the same, but should at least be reminiscent of the original. Since it's not even remotely reminiscent, however, why call it a remix? It may as well be a new release, altogether, under a different name. That's the point I was trying to make. The MWNN remix has elements of the original (hence, a remix) but is produced in an original style, making it a good track on its own and also a solid remix.

I agree with all this. This remix package isn't the best one to come out from Platipus, but if I happen to like one of these when the full versions are available I'm not going to write it off just because it doesn't subjectively fill the requirements for a remix and is not an original track instead.
