Love it. Faders are damn smooth. The cue fader is a nice touch and it sounds pretty clean as well. And the capability to fader start.

Only thing I could ask for is kills.

Had this set up for about a year, mixer for 6 months

Gear:
2x Numark 1650 Turntables
2x Ortofon Concorde Pro Silver
Vestax PCV-275 mixer
Sony MDR-V6 Headphones (aka 7506)
Some old school stereo that can blow away the majority of stereos today.

Thats a custom built booth, was surprised how well it turned out, just about every measurement fitted exactly. Took me about 3 weeks to build so it better have bloody fitted! And as you can see on the last photo all the cables drop inside, makes it look really clean on top.
Feel free to PM or ask me any questions if you are looking to do something similar.

Nice booth man, looks really clean. But about the setup, those turntables, are they any good? I was looking around on the internet and found those for €194 a piece, that's like $230.. Do they work just as cheap as they are? Else i might wanna consider buying this combination as my first setup.

ummm, yeah the 1650's............

They aren't as bad as everyone says. Having said that, they aren't the best deck on earth. I've had them for a year (they were 2nd hand so I don't know how old they actually are), one TT's motor is getting really worn out and the pitch is wobbling a fair bit (the other is still okay though). Its not so flash to listen to, you don't really notice it when you are mixing though.
When I first got them, they weren't that bad, they are great to learn on basically cos they ARE inaccurate (and new they wouldn't be as bad as mine are), so you do get pretty good at pitch bending mid mix, and the pitch fader is loose so its great to learn how to ride the pitch rather than push-pull.

They do feel plasticky, there is feedback through the base, and the weight of my Concordes is right on the limit of the weight the tonearm can take.

I'd recommend them if:
A) You are poor
B) You aren't sure if djing is your thing
C) You're a sucker for punishment
D) You don't take your djing seriously (if its a hobby)

Either way, they are pretty good to start out on, but you WILL want to get new ones after about a year.

Look, for a cheap deck they are better than I was expecting. People were sort of saying "you won't be able to mix, they are crap, forget them, just get Techs". Thats a load of crap, I stand by the fact they are a good beginner's table.

Possible other options include the Stanton STR8-80, I was torn between these two, I haven't used the Stanton so I don't know if they are better/worse.

I would've bought a CDJ1000 and a CDJ 800 instead of 3 800's

Well i've finally drawn up the plans to the Dj table i'm going to be making soon enough.

I've always liked the look of the Sefour x30 so thought i'd try (free hand) and recreate it. Only started using a 3d CAD program the other week but this is what i've come up with. Instead of it being similar enough, i've decided to make some exterior changes to it. Should look ok when it's done.

But mainly i'm just looking forward to the woodwork, if i get time to do it

Here's the drawing of the table.

And here is the table looking a little more realistic.

And it would be nice if everything could be done in perspex but.. this is about as close to that as i'm going to come.

Hopefully i'll be able to start building the table soon enough, i'll post some pics of the finished product then. It isn't going to be half as nice as the real thing but should do the trick nicely

nelly
