Thanks guys for the listen. I am going to come right out and say that I totally know what you guys are referring to,and you are totally right. The issue I have is literally based on monitors I believe. I don't have any and what I am using is well..lol what you hear. Crap..lol
Or, would you disagree and say there are things I can do in helping my mixes without monitors

I personally don't use monitors much, only now and then during a track, I just like producing on little Logitech computer speakers which I know a couple of big pro's also do.
A/B yours against some current electronic pop tracks - u just need a bit more 'peak' as my sons would say

Hi Phil,
I also don't care as much as I should about producing and mixing on my speakers man, I got so use to work on headphones and for so long that I don't really feel that I need them (at least at those two stages of production). Mastering is completely different beast but I let professionals handle it lol.
Cheers,
Darek

hey Rich, was waiting for the hammer to drop at 1 minute but you saved it for later, I would have went full beans from the start, I like the stabs but maybe too many and slightly poking out of the mix??
3:30 is where it takes off properly, the hat could be a bit more punchy, like some 909 mid
that crazy synth, it would be cool if you dropped it out a bit earlier - I'm being critical, nice track!

Cheers bud, ha ha I actually had a lot more stabs and trimmed them out, I think I'm done with this track now but many thanks for the feedback brother.
Hiyo, said the random lurker that comes and goes...
Hope y'all are doin' well during all this global nonsense. Good to see the creative juices are still flowin'.
Still at it on this end...strayed a bit from trance...but having more fun with break-beat, custom sound design and putsing around with more vocal elements...thought I'd drop by, say hi, leave a WIP and disappear again .
Oh,and leave a thanks, for all the brutally honest feedback some of you have given me in the past. Listening back through a couple tracks when I first started...Yeesh. Sorry about that. Anyway. o/

🐻 Don't know where I'm going with this. Just really like the cowbell. Could use some dialog or vocals.

Christopher Walken approved. Mix seems a little stuffy, could use moar kick (can barely perceive kick). Could benefit from moar transitional audio cues, and a main focal element to really bring the whole thing to life. Cowbell probably sticks out a wee bit too much for me.
Like the crunchy vibe and sound selection though.

🐻 Thanks for the feedback. I mixed the track on Senny HD 280s which tend to exaggerate the bass. Closed ear headphones not so good for mixing unless just DJing. Also ear fatigue, aargh!

All bueno. Appreciate your feedback as well! Mixing on a set of reasonably isolated hs50m's / HS8's over here.
And I agree, I like my semi-open Beyer DT880's much more than my closed 770's...

Imho I like the backing end of this track. The cowbell...lol not so much. I know you mentioned the fondness of it however on my ears it takes away from the heart of the track.
The back end is where I would focus my attention. It is very driving and very rhythmic.

So, this down time has not influenced me hardly at all. Strange as this would seem the time TO be influenced. With that said, I have been able to muster a few wips.
This first track is a hardcore wip. Probably only about 45 minutes to an hour. Personally, I feel the rhythm and bass areas are solid and have been attempting to work something around that. The atmosphere is the area of where I am getting stumped at. I am not fond of the arps and the higher frequency tones I am using. Maybe it is ok for a backing track and perhaps I need to fiddle with some lead parts?
