Because the government may turn on its people, and you've got the right to bear arms in case you need to fight it... even if all you're acquiring is a bunch of assault weapons, while the government has everything from drones to nuclear devices.

Yeah... alot of people still seem to think this is the 1700's.

Technology evolved but humans did not. Its a damn shame.

I guess we need to start giving ordinary civilians access to drones and nuclear weapons, then. What could possibly go wrong?

I can see the headline already: "Florida woman throws nuke on boyfriend's penis after he cheated on her with her sister".

You mean Republicans don't already have that? Ann Coulter is such a drone I suspect even the nuclei of my atoms split in despair to see who leaves the room first

Drones and nuclear fission all in one!

Very sad state of affairs, I don't know about Colorado's stance on Death Penalty, but if this were in Texas, I'd vote for the chair.

Well, for one, I think there's nothing 'after this', those kids had a life to look forward to. I'm all for rehab and what not, but some deserve the ultimate punishment; it serves as cautionary tale, but does it instill enough fear to prevent future atrocities such as this one? Or does it promote more violence?

I do really wonder what it's going to take for this country to actually change our current attitude about guns, and I'm really not looking forward to whatever it is that actually does change people's minds. This sure as shit isn't it.

NRA propaganda persistently dumbs down any reasonable conversation. Look at all of the people who've chimed in on comment sections and even some politicians. They're wondering why no one in the movie theater had a concealed gun permit so they could stop the massacre. You have to wonder what ridiculous Jet Li/Jason Bourne fantasy these people have that deludes them into believing they'd fare well in these situations. And what happens when you have two or more of them not being able to distinguish between the lone gunman and the good samaritan in adrenaline fueled seconds?

They did an episode of 20/20 where people armed with guns firing Simunition bullets were supposed to stop a Virginia Tech style massacre and some of them couldn't even get the gun untangled from their clothing to point it at the shooter. They're calling for vigilante heroics in the darkness of a smoke-filled theater while the movie is still running - during a scene where there is gun-play, no less. Air Marshals, Navy Seals, Air Force Pararescue, Green Berets, SWAT, and Marine Recon have the skill and training to pull it off. I'd love to stick the people calling for more CCW into a situation where the ambiance is completely fucked, like a movie theater or a night club, and see how willing they are to argue their point after they've shot a number of innocent by-standers, have their own clothing riddled with Simunition stains, and the only thing they have to show for it is a half-empty clip from the Glock they'd placed so much stock in, only seconds before it all started.

Definitely pisses me off.
