I actually wasn't hit too hard there, besides the 300 euro a night room and alcohol / pizza / private tours / taxis. I saw all the sights I wanted to see, but avoided all the people trying to steal my money. Was a great time. Would love to go back to Rome soon
This is true; despite the high cost of visiting.... to see the Sistine Chapel in person, along with the many other things I only read about in history books my whole life, was priceless. I want to get back there too. Rent an apartment next time man. My friend and I spent about $250 each for a full week in a nice apartment.

Might as well do a stopover in celje as well so that at least you can have a proper beer before going south
Oh wait they sell our beer there as well, never mind

My girlfriend and I are discussing doing that soon. Go rent an apartment in the Colosseum district for a week or two or something along those lines. Seeing the Vatican, that Castle thing by the bridge from that one opera (I'm drunk dammit ), and all those other cool old buildings was priceless.
It's a complete rich person cliche thingy (as I said, I'm drunk so excuse me) but traveling really is amazing.

I would but only doing about 3 weeks so time is precious. Myself and a few best mates might do the whole 3-6 month Euro trip in like 2012 or something (before the world ends) so I'll make sure to visit all the local TAs

That's where I stayed- Colosseum district. My wife has never been to Italy, and I want to take her this year... but rent a place on the coast for like 2 weeks and get a car and explore.

Funny, I can't really like it. I spent the whole month of February travelling in England (well it was just London) and Japan, but I really wish I was just living and one of these places and had my stuff with me. It's one of the odd things about me, people often want to smack me in the back of my head for saying that
I don't think I'd ever want to ditch Brasilia but, if I ever had to move, I'd want to live in London - it was a lot more Lira-friendly than anywhere in Japan.

that's awesome.. you're going to enjoy it a lot. try to stay out of the tourist traps- there's a lot of places where the people try to make fast money by dressing up and then demanding money for a pic- i avoided them all like a plague haha, or as you'll see in germany and france (italy too) when they paint themselves and stand still like a statue- i just keep walking & ignore them.
right now we don't have much money for a GOOD euro trip- i've seen most of europe but i really want nathan to leave the country and experience something new, but right now is not the time w school either. so enjoy it to the fullest!!
