Saturday is def SOLID and the day to go.

I have no desire to go both days though (with the Sunday lineup) so hopefully they put single day passes on sale like last year.

Otherwise ... I'm geeving

Although I'm happy with Day 1's line-up, this is a fallacy that up until now Toronto promoters have continued to use. However, in the recent past, promotion companies like Mansion and Embrace (specifically Galapagos arm of Embrace) have shown that you can bring fresh, upcoming and relatively unknown talent and still draw huge crowds.

The dance scene in Toronto or even all of Canada is effin' small. It can barely be compared to the US even. So the festival bookings around the world can't be compared to the ones in Toronto.

But, the underground scene is growing in Toronto. We have so many clubs bringing in class underground acts. The only thing I don't understand is why Toronto festivals brings so many cheese bookings. Maybe INK has a lot to do with it. After all they still strongly represent what Toronto likes.

Just Announced: TJR and Myon and Shane 54 bring the funky beat to Digital Dreams.

I would say TJR is likely one of the best DJs you've never heard of and Myon & Shane 54 are of course local trance favs...

Not meaning they are local artists - that they are popular in the market...

thats the point im trying to make... we need the chessy/pop/trouse acts to play their noise so we can get a sliver of something good...

i wouldnt say Toronto or Montreal (NY/Chicago in the US) have bad scenes its just not Berlin or London...

still im gonna said it again that festival in chicago still blows DD out of the water lol

but can i get a confirmation will they sell single day tixs? Did they do that last year?

The festival wants to make money so they can continue for year 3, year 4, etc.

You can't do that with unknown, or niche DJs.

It's like the Hollywood blockbuster. Sure, Will Smith isn't the greatest actor, but you need him to sell tickets.

What $200 million dollar movie do you see with total no names in the leading role?

You can't go expermimental in years 1 to 3, this is the building stage.

This man knows of what he speaks... Smaller/niche/up & coming acts appear on festivals later in their existance when you can add 4th, 5th and 6th stages or expanded hours for main stages. The first 3-5 years are about building a brand identity and getting the masses out to experience the event and hopefully return with friends the following year(s). Also - the club scene exists to allow up & coming acts to develop and become popular. Festivals are about bringing acts that "have already made it" so to speak, together in one place. A festival is not a weekly club night and should not be compared to it. Wrongbar, Hoxton, Cobra, Moskito, etc, etc, etc are where you go to see these acts - not Ultra, EDC or even Digital Dreams!
