Actually, there's one thing I've always wondered: Is there a place where "about" sounds like "a belt"? With a "w" instead of the "l", of course.
The vocalist from Rage Against the Machine comes pretty close (go to 3:10 when he says "All hell, don't stop us now") but, of course, the "l" don't usually becomes an "w" in North America, and I feel the vowel is a bit more open when he says "now" (it's the same vowel from "bad", rather than the vowel from "bed"). However, it wouldn't be linguistically surprising if someone said "bout" like "bewt"...
