I will have to disagree. I use the hd25s and I have no complaint as they are great headphones. Their drivers are better and the sound is a bit clearer then the pioneer ones.
However strictly for djing I would prefer my older pioneers because they had that booming bass that really helps your mixes. Even during low passages the bass is so dominant that
it's like somebody stuck a woofer in you ears. I love that. I miss that.
Even if that would make the headphones extremely inacurate as a reference point in a studio situation for djing you want that thumping boom-boom-boom-boom especialy when you are mixing ambient shit or beatless intros....
My pair like yours fucking broke
Now how wise would it be to invest in a brand of headphones that will sooner or later break?
I dunno...it comes down to personal preference but for djing I would pick the pioneer cans again, I am serious as I tupe this. I would use the hd's for listening as their sound quality is great.
My advise to you is to LISTEN TO THE CANS BEFORE YOU TAKE OUT YOUR CREDIT CARD and decide for yourself.
I wish I had done that.

hey everyone....
i use the hdj1000s as well and they did snap on me even though i never abused them. however, i am curious why everyone is running out to buy a new pair..... mine snapped clean at the joint so that one headphone was only hanging on by the wire, so i just stuck some superglue on it (the plastic parts) and didn't touch them for a day. since then (about 4-5 months ago) i have not had another problem with them.
my 2 cents...

Out with the old...
... And in with the new!
I don't have to bend down as much, nor do I have to reach across my mixer. Plus, it looks nice.

Heres how you combine ableton live with it in 6 easy-to-follow steps:
Step 1:
Look for a module called Red sound - beat extractor (or xtractor I'm not sure)
It looks like a beatcounter and is priced @ 150$.
Step 2:
Take the booth out of your mixer and plug it into the input of the xtractor.
(I suggest booth out so the record out is still available for recording your mixes.)
This will automatically generate a midi clock based on the tempo of your mix.
step 3:
Plug the midi out of the xtraktor to the midi in of your soundcard and set live to slave mode.
Now live will be synched up to the decks.
Use a two channel soundcard with unbalanced outs so you wont need impedence meters that convert +4 to -10.
If they are already @ -10 they are unbalanced rca outputs and ready to be plugged into
the motherfuckin xone.
step 4:
Next plug your preview channel into channel 2 of your xone using rca to 1/4 cables.
step 5:
Your main channel (channel one or two of your soundcard whatever you select in the
preferences menu) will be line in of channel three and will be routed to the crossfader.
Your three pioneer cd decks will be channel 4,5 &6.
So you will have 2,3 for live and 4,5,6 for the cdj800s.
Optional step 6:
Next go out and buy the bitstream 3x the best and most advanced midi controller out there.
Why ?
It gives you 8 actual faders to control the virual channels of ableton live.
It gives you a crossfader to contoll the virtual one in live.
It solid made out of metal and has very accurate faders and knobs.
You get 24 of them so you can contol your eq plug ins so that its layed out like a dj mixer.
It gives you a bright led that displays parameters and modes.
You get full contoll of the axis!!!
And finally Speedy j (the best producer in the world) uses it.
There is only one problem.
The company red sound that makes that essential little thing for making this rig work,
no longer exists and you will have a hard time finding the Beat xtractor
If you do however find a place that still has them in stock please pm me!!
That goes for all of you reading this right now I promice to get anybody who can find the beat extractor for me onto the cover of BPM magazine
plus I will pull some strings to get them to right an in depth 10 page long article about your... dj influences... or something.
Just. find. the. damn. thing!
Hope this helps if you have any further questions do not hesitate to send me a private message.
