Well over a year since the last one, that once a month things really not worked oiut that well has it. Hey ho.
I didn't get to Glastonbury this year, but watching it on the tele brought a lot of fond memories. This mix is inspired by that, lots of chunky, chugging techy proggy stuff with a few acid excursions. Perfect for a sweaty, wonky evening in a field in Somerset.

Having nagged you for ages to do another proggy set, Dave, I figured I'd better give this a listen. And for the first 80 minutes or so I thought this was going to be an all-time classic. There was a slow start that smoothly curved upwards into chunky, groovy territory. Then with that James Monro remix of Nanoplex things absolutely ignited for a good twenty minutes. Even by your own high standards, that mix into the Chems re-rub of Open Up is quite exceptional. At that point I was hoping for a full-on festival close out of massive choons, so was slightly disappointed when you stripped it back into heads-down, jaw-grinding acid messiness. I wouldn't have objected to the latter section of the set if it had come after a good hour of peak time, but as it was it felt like the peak of this set was a relative flash in the pan. Still a strong effort overall, and certainly a few tunes I will be stealing, but that little section in the middle was so good it left me wanting more.

As promised Dave, I've listened to this a couple of times to confirm my opinion to myself!
Basically, the first 30 mins is absolutely georgous - as you said the other day, the opener is like a trance record but without a kick drum. Usually, beatless intros that go on for more than a minute do my head in. This one goes on for 7 mins but the time absolutely flies and by the time track 2 cones in I feel like I'm already listening to a proper club set. The mixing from then on is seemless too
However, the next 30 mins just aren't my thing at all - just not to my taste I'm afriaid and i felt they belong in a different set
As Jack said, great flow and big guns a-blazimg for the final stretch, a brilliant end to the mix
Uf this had been a trance mix, based on the opening sequence, rather than a fusion of prog and techno, it would be up there with your best!
