I think these two would be worth adding to the Mastering
section.

Several articles by Bob Katz on mastering & mixing:

A mastering booklet by Katz:

If one wanted to start making music from scratch, in which order should he begin to learn all the different parts of production ?

Should he go with musical theory first ? Or could he start directly with understanding how a sequencer works, then go on with the EQ & Compression techniques ?

I'm must admit that I'm a bit lost...

Well, do you want to make music?

If yes, then music theory should be first. Seems obvious.

heya,

Many people asked for an update on this via e-mail and myspace pm's, so I thought it was time to write a decent document about kick drums, but this time on how to make them from scratch with an fm synth.

You can find it:

HERE

Enjoy

Here is my own Tutor site
Tutors for various soft synths
To teach you how you make your own sounds on them

VANGUARD
KOMPLEXOR
PRO-53
And a full tutor to teach you how Logic 5 works

All with pictures and text to make it as easy as possible
http://www.freewebs.com/websoundtutors/index.htm

Make Your Own Web SnapShot Tutor

Here is how you make a snapshot tutor

Creating the Worksheet

Bellow between the nfo tags i have made the simple htm code for you
Select all the text and do copy

Make a folder somewhere on your computer
Go inside that folder and right click inside
Then you create an untitled.txt with notepath
Open it and you do edit\paste to paste the html text you copied

Save the text file like
My Tutor WorkSheet.txt

Then save it again
But now you change the format at the save box
On the bottom is the HTML format
Save it as
My Tutor Name Of It.htm

If you click the HTM than the paged tutor will apear
We open the My Tutor WorkSheet.txt
Now edit the text we want in there
And we start building the pictures

The Pictures

Important to know is where you put the pictures to make them shown on page

You will have the main folder MY TUTOR
MY TUTOR\My Pictures Folder\The Picture 001.JPG

The htm will have to be here else it cant see the pictures
MY TUTOR\My Tutor Name Of It.htm

How to make your own SnapShots

Push this button on your pc keyboard it will make a snapshot of your desktop
PrtSc
SysRq

Then right click somewhere to do NEW\Make Bitmapfile Untitled.bmp
You open that bitmap file or just edit another .JPG on your pc and save with a different name later
Then EDIT and PASTE
PrintScreen copied the desktop to its notepath so paste will bring up the needed picture at the jpg-bmp

Now edit the picture to only show what you want to show
Save the picture inside the folder which you made for it
I would change the bmp to jpg because JPG takes a lot less mb's

Repeat all the steps you want to show and edit the text
On the end save the txt for backup purposes
Then save as a htm again replace the old file
And open the My Tutor Name Of It.htm to see your changes

    <h3>Web Page Name Here</h3>

    ******>

Visual On Site Big Name Here

    Type your text here
The pre code above before the text
The pre closing tag below to close the text part

    Bellow is a picture link
Pro-53 SnapShots = the name of the folder
pro-53.002.JPG = the picture that will be shown

br clear is the big black line to devide the text parts visualy

Putting Your Tutor On The Internet

If you want to put it on the net
Remember only legal things for these sites

:spam: http://members.freewebs.com/ :spam:

You click start now
Register
Go to page editor and choose one of the templates
Open a new page in the page editor
On the tags on top of the page youll get enter html tag
If you click that then a popup box will open

You do copy paste from your txt-htm fille and copy all the info to the box
Then ok and the page will be shown with the pictures as empty icons
Now select the first pict icon and click the load picture tag on the page
Now the picture load box will popup
You can now upload your pictures to this box
Once you got all your pictures uploaded in the box

Then you select the first picture to make it shown on the page
It could be smart to have the txt-htm open aswell
Than you can check which picture has to come after which text

You repeat the icon loading for all the pictures on your page
the click on pict icon ,and pic load tag ,and select the coresponding jpg

Now your site is ready to rock
Hit DONE on the top right
Then top right visit my page
And you'll see your site

You can make more than 1 tutor on that one page
And it will take a while with pictures to reach the 40 mb freebee limit
So the site will be usable for a while

I tryed to put up my own background music
But as a freebee you cant up bigger than 750 kb with 1 file
