You know,
I don't think my music is ever going to make me famous, and I'd be surprised to know anyone listens to it without the urge to press the stop button. It's too fast, too full of layers, and too poorly mixed - it's like listening to the a sped up recording of the Berlin Philharmonic on crack (the musicians being screwed up, not you). Sometimes I think I should instead focus my attention and my energy on learning a new language (or just working on the ones I know), or reading.
However, I get a real kick out of producing electronic music. Even if I can't share it with people I love, I like to listen to my own music as I drive/work out/take a stroll down memory lane. It reminds me of what was going on in my mind when I produced it.
My parents always thought it was silly. They reckoned that it was a job and, if I spent so much time producing music, I should also get some money. When I told them I wanted to buy pick-ups when I was a teenager, they even imagined I was going to be a high school drop-out and become a DJ like DJ Aligator, or someone as obscure. It took me a while to separate the view music making again as a hobby. But, now that I do, I'm glad I did it.
