Lots of ideas going on here. Most tracks nowadays are less than half the length of this! If this is the first track that you have finished I think it is a good place to be at. I would recommend you find a reference track in the style you like (Markus Schulz/Dakota for example) and build the track in a similar way. The mixing is pretty good to me, as is the sound design, though there is always room for improvement. I find lots of cool independent ideas don't usually work together. Instead, find one key idea, and then build around it. Focus and restructure. |
Spot on -I have a hard time finishing tracks because I get distracted. This one started one way, then went elsewhere. I had a hard time letting go of some elements.
I explained it away as Deadmau5-esque,but I'm seeing the need to trim it myself. The important part for me is that I finished it, at least theoretically. Now comes the part of perfecting it, then off to the new challenge. Thanks for your feedback - any other thoughts are welcome

I like the sounds. It sounds like you're writing your song in 32 bar phraesses....so to chop it down just think in 4 and 8bar phrases. So whenever you bring in a new sound, it woyuuld come in every eight bars.

Ok, so, I finally "finished" a track - e.g. laid out all the loops into something that has an outline of a finished product. It's a very melancholy, dark prog/housey/ravey trance. I haven't finished a single track, so I think in this one I was making up for all of it - and it's at modest ~13 mins or so. But it slowly evolves into what I felt was a pretty slick middle and then pretty energetic ending.
It was intended to evolve from start to finish - so, if you can, give it a listen in its entirety and let me know what you think.

OK time for me to join in the fray here. This one's almost finished but I can't for the life of me figure out a good intro and outro. Any ideas? General consensus on the track itself?
