Good for them. Last years Champions League final was atrocious.

Not a fan of Guardiola to Bayern. He hasn't really convinced me he's a top manager yet, and the style of play in Germany is entirely different then Spain. He was gifted an immensely talented Barcelona side and basically did what was expected, its not as if he had his work cut out for him. That team was going to perform well regardless of who was in charge. Would have liked to see someone with more pedigree and experience in Germany.

Haha I'm not surprised. Another perfect example of a manager with no actual managerial pedigree. His first ever full job was the dutch national team and they ended up going out in the semis (typical), then he went to Rotterdam and got relegated, before somehow landing at the Nou Camp. It's like Barca go out of their way to hire the most inexperienced managers possible. Last I heard from Rijkaard he took over managing Saudi Arabia and they failed to qualify for 2014. Maybe Guardiola can have next crack

Guardiola didn't much of a managerial experience before taking over Barca either.

Lack of managerial experience and taking over a big clubis a bit of crap shoot. Some do well. Some do not.

The reason why Guardiola was successful had to do with the culture around the club. He had been the second team coach before that and on top of that had spent the great part of his career as a player there (he was even a ballboy when he was 10 years old at the club). The philosophy of football at the club is well understood by those who are involved and explains why 8-10 starting players are graduates of the youth team. It symbolizes the hard work and dedication of a long process which commited itself to a mindset which not only does justice to the beautiful game in the visual sense but is modernized to keep up with rapidly changing tactics. If anyone had seen the way Guardiola coached the second team, it would seem like a great choice. Not only tactically but on a personal level too as he's a sophisticated personality who can relate to the modern footballer.

Who knows how he will do at Bayern but I think he's smart enough to weigh up his strengths and weaknesses when observing his arsenal. I have to admit that I'm pretty shocked about this move but it's not the craziest scenario. Bayern have a lot of good pieces to work with so I'm sure the intrigue of seeing the potential recognized lured him in.
