i do that quite a bit for my own tracks, ill listen on my macbook speakers/headphones and see how the mix sounds minus sub-bass - good way to see if anything in the mix is poking out excessively or just swamped altogether
edit: its more how wide that mid-bass is, maybe if it was narrower it might fit better |
Ah Gotcha! No, Thanks for the feedback,I really do respect your opinion.
I would tend to agree with you on the bass. I do the same and try to listen to my tracks on almost any piece of gear I can.
In this instance however, it is sorta a "bass" track.
As well, to be quite frank, I also listen to tracks in the car which I have loaded with 2 12' JL-Audio 12W7's. Although these are beasts and can take it (and yes, I also realize that the ordinary joe only listens on their computer/ipod )I actually feel very underwhelmed when listening to this track in my car.
I also enlisted a friend of mine who does nothing but bass tracks himself and he felt underwhelmed as well.
I guess I am truly curious to which direction to take it. Today, it is true...majority listen to highly compressed music on their computer, streaming or ipod. I guess I am going to have to conform to that standard /sigh
Oh..and when you mean mid bass, are you referring to the sub or the saw?
