It's not beer, the closest thing I can compare it to is like lemon vodka with club soda or something. Which is nice, cause it doesn't fill you up at all so you can keep drinking em'.
I love Asahi, too. I had plenty of that in restaurants and on the bullet trains.
They also sell pre-mixed whiskey and ginger ale cocktails. In cans. Those are only 5%, though (a much different ratio than when I make a whiskey-ginger at home :P).
