Jamie, I recall a time when you despised minimal just as much.

EvilTree, check out some of the releases mentioned in the article - though some of them I'm not really keen on, as I don't think they represent the cross between deep house and minimal very well.

i never despised minimal, just wasn't fond of it. Until i danced to it at the zone that first time, i never understood the attraction... then once moving to it i understood appeal and attraction.

enjoying dancing to something almost always for me translates into an appreciation of the sound.

hence why I'm not a big fan of house music in general... I hate dancing to it. prolly also why my appreciation for trance has decreased so much in the last year or more, bc i find myself getting bored dancing to it.

desire to dance to a music seems to correlate directly with my love of a music.

... and I've never liked moving to deep house... had a deep house DJ playing before my buddy Nate here in Collingwood two years ago... ugh.

but anyways, we'll see what comes about, but as of presently, I'm not a deep house fan at all and don't see myself becomming one. dont like it. :S

This pretty much sums up my opinion on it as well. Although there are few good ones here and there, I'm not liking that direction.

I like the direction! I just don't think those tracks do it justice.

Perhaps my wording was a bit off. Most of the tracks don't do much justice for me as well, and that's what I meant in terms of direction. I like the mixture of deep house and minimal but if most releases will be as bland as the ones I've heard, then they need to turn it up a notch.

on the topic of minimal.. Dave Clarke had a funny 2cents when asked his thoughts in a recent interview...

Q - Minimal craze is still going on, you arent one of those who followed that path. On the other hand, many DJs complain there isnt much going on in techno nowadays, except minimal and hard techno / schranz. So tell me, how do you manage to get your hands on proper techno and they dont, is it just lazyness?

Dave Clarke - I am not a bandwagon jumper, that kind of behaviour is almost acceptable when you are starting off, when you are finding your feet, but not when you “believe” in what you do. possibly the situation is like this…..Artist lives in city with other artists, artist lives so close to other artist that they can say hi when they buy their milk in the morning, artist goes back to bed and sleeps with partner that previously possibly went out with the other artist that was seen buying milk, artist goes to same clubs as other artists, artist is essentially insecure and wants to be a sheep, artist can afford to stay in same town as other artist because it is so cheap, however artist needs to be respected by other insecure artists due to large drug intake. That’s my take anyway.

That is precious..i miss Dave Clarke and one of the last 4 deck gunslingers around that doesnt need to churn out shit production after production on a regular basis. A purists dream, but you gotta love those quotes.

ps click sig for poker flat and ill have some release dates to anounce shortly./shameless plug by insecure artist. (no more drugs though)
