Trust me, it's paradise. This is where the hungry come to feed. For mine is a generation that circles the globe and searches for something we haven't tried before. So never refuse an invitation, never resist the unfamiliar, never fail to be polite and never outstay the welcome. Just keep your mind open and suck in the experience. And if it hurts, you know what? It's probably worth it.
I've yet to see The Beach, but I trust Danny Boyle's filmmaking.

Pet peeve of mine. If you want to be entertained, go watch Transformers.
Well look at you two frontal-lobe-heavy intellectuals. Like I can't figure out the point of the movie? LOL... I get it, believe me. Many movies with good intentions often suck, and this was one of them in my opinion.
My pet peeve is when people try to sound extra smart by invoking names like "Au Revoir Les Enfants" and other obscure art house indies that they know nobody has really seen, and try to show off like they're part of Cannes film festival underground. "You're not up to speed on Louis Malle's catalogue? HAHAHA go back to your cave, culture-less heathen!"

on that note, i second City of God; Irreversible was very well done but was also a very uncomfortable movie to see with my mother; Y Tu Mama, Tambien, Requiem for a Dream, and for when it finally arrives on video: Berlin Calling. i like foreign films that make you read.

I actually watched those movies (excluding Blood Diamond) as a result of that thread I made. Fantastic movies. Really enjoyed them a lot.

This defeats the purpose of a movie. A movie is made to be watched. /end
