This mix is not to your usual standard, the vocals are hard to decipher, way too much bid / bass in them and they clash with the synths even though the vocals are very loud. The kick is old fashioned and wooly, the early intro synth part is clumsy, damn this is nasty feeback, sorry Darek.

Sorry Man, I cant love them all, and I know this can make one feel a bit down but I wont compromise on honest feedback.

Sounds good Richard - this is not the latest one version and most of the vocal stuff is already cleanup - as far as this pluck in the beginning (a think this is the one you are referring to as clumsy) the feedback is also already properly adjusted -> and yes agree with you on the fact that is it hard to make everybody happy a specially in the style that most people over here (on Tranceaddict) doesn't admire anyway lol.

Cheers brother for your honest opinion

It is not easy to get you comment on any work/production and usually when you do then you deliver the "BOMB" -> you mention that this is almost inaudible and mushy with additional problems with the vocal? (and yes vocal level and sound eq is already adjusted as I mention in my response to Richard comment), also which reference system did you use to identified this mixing problems as this would help me address some specific issues you heard in the mix.

Cheers and appreciate your time man.

Darek

I think the issue with the kick is that it sort of blends with the bass because there's no punch to it. The track would benefit from a more snappy kick. I was listening to the track on my home stereo with a subwoofer which emphasized the problem even further.

I don't usually like to give feedback on tracks, since I believe every artist makes their music the way they intend it to sound. I commented here, because I believe this doesn't sound the way you want it to.

Yeah, I will need to make some assumption as I went on three different systems (speakers setups) incl. Yamaha HS80M and B&W Matrix 804 and in my car stereo so I'm a bit confuse at the best (but I'm completely agree with vocal levels and eq issues which are taking care already).

Kick and bass I want to be glue together and have similar range (but I will try to play with slightly different one or do some eq to make it sound more separated), anyway my main concern was vocal so got your guys opinion already for which I'm regretful

Cheers man,

Darek

the vocal isnt sitting right at all, needs more compression for a start, maybe even a retake? If you get that sorted im sure the whole thing will sound a lot better!

Just replace the original (old) one with a short version of latest production as (and it was my mistake lol) I should upload newer version right from the beginning

The reason behind was that (and happened to me already) sometime if I share a full and ready to go production on SoundCloud it was distributed all over the net and free for download

Cheers guys and thanks for some rough but honest comments

Just in the case if somebody doesn't like to go back and find this latest (but short) version on this track then here we go:

Oh that's much better Darek.

Ok in terms of improvements;

1) that synth underlining the chorus from 28 secs is boring, make a much better sound, not so it takes over the vocals, but adds to the track and excitement none the less.

2) a bit nit picky but the sweeps have too much resonance and are a little predictable in sound. I would suggest make them a little more original sounding, as a sort of sign of quality and thoughtfulness

Otherwise yes sounds way better and is listenable

Funny you mention this synth from 0:28 sec as I was contemplating of modifying it but since this is/was a part of original collab stem in form of wav file I wasn't able to do that so the only way to deal with it would be completely to replace it with something different lol -> and I may have to do that

Also I'm not set on drums pattern and style yet, need to dive a bit deeper into this part and see if I can create something more driving and with more dynamic vibe.

I'm glad that you like this so far Richard also thanks to Toby for his time and comment - you guys can always share your opinion on any of my tracks (god or bad)

Cheers,

Darek

I want to now send this out, I've done a lot of frilly bits to really give it a final boost. Only home mastering though.

I played in a little classical riff hope that's allowed as its real old?

Any last critiques?

This is really fucking good. I'm only listening on earbuds but I don't hear anything technically wrong with the mix, sounds or engineering. Really interesting track, that piano is lovely (what is it by the way?) and the bass sits and hits nicely.

My only critique is that you have to give it more impact on the drop at 2:25 - was expecting a fat kick or layered (simple) beefy break over that next verse, but all it does is fill in the missing beat from breakdown - nothing extra hits and I can't help but want the track to go there.

But honestly, you produce some the best sounding DnB out there.

It depends how old the song is and if the copyright was renewed or not by anyone. Also, I don't know much about classical but I think there are different "arrangements" of compositions that may be more recent and in copyright (the same way a new translation of an old out of copyright book is under a new copyright).

Personally, I think the classical addition is "interesting" but I liked it better the old way (this new part stands out quite a bit, which can be good but may be a bit too dramatic). I tend to like to play it safer and am really into the catchyness of this song first and foremost. I know you like to make really unique stuff though, and it is your interpretation at the end of the day. The version I have been listening to the last month was great to me. I think it is possible to overproduce a track after it has reached its best version.

I hope you do send it out! Hopefully to some big labels first.

You're too kind mate!
I tried to make that 2.25 part have a little more impact thanks to your feedback. I added other quiet drum layer but kept sounding muddy so I just increased existing drum volume instead where you suggested.

The piano is my Trancelover03591, I too would be interested to know what he used.

TRANCELOVER _ yes I've taken your advice the second break is now more simple. Afraid I ditched the original synth I had there so its not recoverable.

Made a few alterations, not so much vocal now. Hopefully thats it now.

I used Piano One, with some processing. The original piano demo I wrote, inspired by my occasional interest in living in London, is here:

Richard mentioned making a DnB version so I sped it up and sent the .wavs/midis for him to turn into gold. He definitely did!
