I like it Richard, it may take some serious mixing and mastering to get it to the release level but melodically speaking sounds really solid.
Also around 3+ min mark I would try to slow it down (to half of your BPM) for 16+ bars to make it interesting.
Sound separations will be very big job in this WIP.

Darek you keep saying tracks of mine needs serious mixing, makes me think I must be deaf or something. Can you tell me what you mean real clearly as this comment of yours is bewildering me a lot.
I really made everything sound separate.
Now maybe you mean the bass takes up much bandwith but this is what UK DnB does. Its not like a simple offbeat bass which is easy to fit.
I was looking for an easy wash of sound not some big stuck out plucks. When I check your mixes they don't seem clearer to my ears, or maybe I'm just no good listening properly

Yeah, most of it is coming from your bass line/s and drums so your dynamics need to be work out through those two elements to have it sound how it should be.

All synths analogue, don't know if it shows or not though.
Not mastered
just on the laptop here - main thing that stands out for me is that the attack of the kick sounds too similar to the snare so im not really getting that dnb groove from the track as a result, theres no "to and fro"

When you say 'sound how it should be', how should it sound?
I know I have not many SC followers but bare in mind I had to start from scratch a new account when the Dirtbox Divas thang ended.
Often in DnB the kick drum is quite light, more focus on the bassline.
But I'll give it another low end check to see if I can improve it.
EVO - I wanted quite a restful track and drums to reflect this so I did away with the more traditional drums, which you are right detracts from the 'dance' side of things but I'm pretty happy to do something a bit different.
I need to make a few synth lines a bit better tho.

i think mainly the thing that jumps out at me is the arrangement and the bassline.....there is too much of the bassline in the song....the song could be 2-3 minutes long instead of 5......the bassline itself is pretty murky along with the kickdrum......the snares and hats need to poke through the mix more
the sound overall is just a bit muffled.....and there is major difference in dynamics in the 2nd part with the extra instruments compared to the first...its alot louder and basically the mix overall needs glue...but you said it's not mastered so.....
the other thing is that filter sweep is way too loud...it's also kind of cliche and pedestrian...and
overall the song has ok harmony, but i'm not really seeing a finished product here....it's like more of an idea....
the bassline is very blurry and not defined...the vocals sit nice in the mix though i like that.....
i think you just need to bring the dynamics out a lot more....thats the main thing.....and make it consistent across the board....using glue and other methods
have an arrangement that makes sense.....all i see is a first half with the bassline in it the whole time....then no bass or beats in the middle...then the same thing as the 1st part...except with some more harmonies...which really dont even need to be in there
if i had to grade this attempt at drum and bass...on a high level scale....i'd give it a 1.5/10.....so lets say you are close to being about halfway, to achieving something that is just barely passable.....
But it's a good attempt definitely...good effort.

I mean the level of 2015/2016 release material if this make any sense - and I know that different styles have a bit different attributes in it but overall quality and dynamics need to be there.
Also those are my observations Richard and I comment only on your work from respect to you as producer and as old buddy on this TA site so please don't take this to personal
Darek
