Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie was hilarious. Now that I know what Shrim is, I wish I didn't.

Not sure if I recommended it here already, but if you want to see a well executed giallo thriller watch Profondo Rosso (Deep Red). It does everything right that modern thrillers do wrong.

Took me a long time, but I finally saw Children Who Chase Lost Voices From Deep Below about a week ago.
Makoto Shinkai really got the Studio Ghibli-feel right for me, while still having it be one of his movies
Looks like it actually has a coherent plot compared to Beyond the Clouds or 5cm Per Second. I don't really mind either way though, the animation quality churned out by CoMix Wave is some of the best ever, and the amount of detail put into the backgrounds and little things is amazing, reminds me almost of hyper-realism art. It's a joy to watch.

"Beyond the Clouds"?
Do you mean The Place Promised In Our Early Days?

Yes, the literal translation from Japanese (雲のむこう、約束の場所 Kumo no Mukō, Yakusoku no Basho) is "Beyond the Clouds, the Promised Place".

Ah. What did you find incoherent about that plot?

I watched The Fifth Element on Saturday for the first time.
Amazing film, sounds and looks stunning.
Interesting story, yet laughed out loud many times.

Ha, thanks for reminding me that I've been meaning to buy it on DVD for a while now, and keep forgetting. Though, I've seen it quite a few times already

Incoherent probably wans't the best word (reserve that for 5cm Per Second, but maybe not there either, there it seemed just sorta... pointless). Beyond the Clouds was extremely melodramatic, and I haven't watched it in years, but they never really explained why she was so important or why she had a connection to the tower in Hokkaido.
The best part about that movie though was the very limited combat scenes, some of the best animated.

Spoiler: she was the granddaughter of the guy who built the tower. I assume one who'd be able to build such a thing would know how to connect it to her.

Not sure if you have a BluRay player, but get it on this format if you can - it's been remastered and looks very very nice!

Yeah, I imagine that would look pretty sweet. I do have a PS3, so I might pick that up.
