oh, rent's getting paid tomorrow as well as a few other financial obligations. i'm also thinking about getting this:
God yes, it's dorky, but my gf and i play KoF all the time on my xbox, and whenever i have friends over we often play one of the 5 billion arcade games loaded on there. it's built exactly like a real arcade joystick console with official replacement parts and whatnot so... yeah. also notice the buttons on the side? it's for pinball games. man, this stick makes me excited. /nerd.
the goal with all of this cash though, is to play cards and do it right; start up a bankroll and see what i can do. if i had a few decent sessions like tonight, i could amass 10 grand easily. and i firmly believe that i'm at a much higher level of play than the rest of the milwaukee locals that play at the casino. do i think i'd do well in vegas or a WSOP tournament? fuck no. but i run over the competition in milwaukee. it's sad. lol
Gambling aside....
Fuck. I really wanna hang out and play arcade games! Why can't you live closer

You know, as soon as I become a PhD candidate, I'm definitely going to buy some sort of mixing gear. I'm usually fiddling around with Mixmeister, and it's so much fun
I hear mixing drum'n'bass is a pain in the arse though...

Not really, its just like mixing a 33 1/2RPM breaks record at 45RPM... Which I have done, by accident... and had it sound awesome! S'all about listening to the high hats with breaks/dnb.

Yeah... might be a little more complicated than that, if you want the tracks to mesh

it's no different than mixing any other genre imo. i don't get why people have problems mixing broken beats; even though the kick isn't obviously being thrown in your face every quarter beat, it's still easy enough to listen to the entirety of the percussive composition and match the tempos that way.
personally i'm thinking about buying a pair of tech12's and traktor scratch. i recently played out on a setup with both of those and it was a lot more fun and just as precise as mixing with CD's (my main reason for not picking up a decent pair of vinyl decks back in the day).

Well yes, but the high hats usually stand out the most and hence its easiest to notice when these are off beat. That is the one new thing I learned from my 12th grade world cultures teacher.

Well breaks, and DnB is just fast breaks with more bass.

i would even argue that jungle/jazzy DnB is even easier to mix than breaks, due to its minimalistic approach to production. the shit DnB that goes "BLARN BLARN BUARM BUARM BU-BUM BUMMM BUMMMMMMM lotta mercy" obviously being a bit more complex and harder to discern the beat from the.. shit.

I always thought it was really hard to mix breaks, but when I did my downtempo mix almost all the songs had breaks in them and it wasn't as hard as I was afraid.
However, I have a hard time going from breaks to 4/4 or vice-versa. Still pretty shit at that, I'm afraid.
