Actually, we do have the History Channel around here... but I don't have a TV set

That's something I've know for a long time.
People who become journalists are mostly idiots. I know a number of students or young journalists. Hippies, talentless dicks who picked one of the few subjects that they could do with their bad grades, random "I study something with media" people, etc. Not one of those who really had something to say chose journalism. And they're all leftist twats by the way (there's a survey that actually proves this).

I tend to agree, but I blame the system as well. You'd have to have a very broad knowledge in order to talk about all the stuff journalists want to. Yet, I'm yet to know a journalist around here that actually knows something about the stuff they're talking about, but they all write as if they were so wise as to be in a better position to judge what others are talking about, as to inspire confidence in those who clearly know bugger all. One journalist once phoned me asking me if I knew the difference between a Wii and a Wii Fit. After half an hour telling the guy what the difference was, he wrote a piece called "What's better for your health: Wii or Wii Fit?"... and claimed you should get a Wii Fit instead of a Wii because it clearly had more benefits.
It's appalling, really.
