honnestly, how much money do they put in their pockets clean for every playoff game? 1M MAX!
thats peanuts compared to their global operating budget. |
Yeah but MLSE is huge... The leafs franchise barely makes up a third of their assets, and if i remember correctly, they have approx. $1B in assets. Other than the condo's its the teams (and to much less extend telivision) that continue to bring in money through ticket sales, concessions, and merchandise.
If you look at the team as a single part of the equation, you see the difference in revenue that the team itself can produce.

Sure, that may be just one part of MLSE, but the ability to increase revenue from tickets substantially is there. A few million dollars missed is a lot of money, and a big deal, even if you dont give a shit about the team.

While i agree, that Mats is past his prime, he is still certainly a top 25 player.
You can say OTT has 3 top 25 players, but really, do you think all of them would be as good as they other without each other. Mats, even up until now, has been a solid PPG player thats been stuck with 3rd line players. Yet, he still raises the game of those around him. How else does a guy like Jonas Hoglund score almost 30g's in season?
Mats can still dominate, he showed that at the end of last season. Its just a shame he still has no support out there. Now that he's on the decline, he's starting to need it. Heck, he set up 2 point point blank chances for Wellwood and Poni but they couldnt even finish. |
Well said......Well said............

Top 50 maybe but not even close to a top 25 player. He isn't even a top 25 forward. Don't get me wrong...he is a good player and he makes the players he plays with better but he is far from a dominating figure out there that teams are scared of.
I'm a huge Leafs Fan but Toronto doesn't stand a chance when they can't bring in big name players.....and that is the problem. Ferguson is a bum and this will be his last season as GM and they need to get rid of Sundin because his contract is just too much....there are much better players out there making a lot less then Sundin.
