I'm traveling to Poland/Germany again this April.
I want to visit Berlin (something I didn't do during my last trip), and I would like to stop in at Berghain.
Any suggestions/advice? |
ive been to berlin twice, love it there, have friends who live there so it's always a free place to crash and overall it's pretty cheap
it really depends on where you stay, there are parts that are like time square and cost that much and there are parts that remind me of the east village in the old new york. i guess that's why i love going back, it has a sense of grimey
with that being said, i've never made it into berghain. i've done literally everything, went with locals and we collectively didn't get into berghain, went at off hours (sunday at 10am), went with one other guy dressed up really well so we looked gay, still NADA. It's the luck of the draw I guess but because I've been to unfortunate in getting in I realize how much more awesome the other clubs are.
I think to really capture the essence of German spet/sped, german party scene, you need to attend a festival. The berlin club nights are epic in that they go forever, start in the morning go all day, start in the evening, whenever they want basically.
You can honestly spend days on days in berlin and still not see everything. it's a very easy city to learn but still very large to spend less than 5 days there.
Kruezberg is where I mainly stayed (in around watergate) and there are a ton of places to eat. I had the best falafel and halloumi out there.
End of the day, Berlin is DEFINITELY a must stop in EU for me, it's a good home base as flights from NY are direct, can be cheap, and it's a major hub (if not munich) to get south going to barca, ibiza, paris, or praha
