I never said it was impressive, I said it's a right EARNED by people when they make their own fucking living. You can't take money with you when you die, Nou - and if all other things in life are provided for, what the fuck is anyone holding onto their money for? The only fool is the asshole who penny pinches all miserly with his money, then bitches about how stupid people are who use theirs to afford a little more luxury if they want it. |
Well first off, I believe that most people that have so much money that they can do stupid luxurious shit are probably living in a country that isn't taxing them enough. Yes you should be able to afford to do some things that are frivolous but really you owe it to society to contribute back as much as you possibly can in the money you earn (but you live in Canada, so that is taken care of to some extent).
Second, you can do plenty with your money after you die. Look at all the horrible industrial magnates of the 19th century, who raped and pillaged the american worker. Ever notice how much shit in the US is named Carnagie? The guy was an asshole who hired private armies to gun down strikers at his steel mills and made millions and millions doing it, but he still went on a huge campaign of endowment in things like libraries and schools and after his death continued these works via organizations formed from his estate.
Now I am not saying that the average person is even capable of coming close to the vast wealth Carnagie had, or more modernly examples like Buffet and Gates, but you can divest your money to charity or down through family. You do not even have to be dead to do such things.
Blowing everything on your immediate selves is... selfish, especially if it is for frivolous things like limousines and private pods on airplanes.
At least thats how I view it.
