I love this shot a student took of me on my birthday. Yes, that's a strawberry. Yes, that's a Swiss army knife. And also, yes, they stormed the classroom while I was teaching so they could give me the cake

Your students gave you a cake for your birthday? Things are really different in Brazil

Yeah, students are quite friendly in our department - I don't think all departments (even in the same university) are quite like that though. Yesterday my students prepared a farewell party for me, and I burst out laughing when I saw them dressed up as Liras
And, as you can see... there was even more cake

Haha, he actually won the "Best Lira Look-a-like Award" (I was the runner-up ). He went as far as growing his beard to get a similar goatee, but it didn't quite work. Here's a picture of us from the back:
If only I had known, I'd have worn my red plaid shirt
Ps.: Yes, I know I should raise the hemline a bit... it looks funny but long story.

Ah, yeah, I knew there was something unfashionable going on. The hemline. That's it!

Hey, I'm considered fashionable in Washington. Or in the 90's. Or, more specifically, in Washington in the 90's
