Euphoric Horizons 200 – The Sunset for Euphoric Horizons and a New Era Begins
Euphoric Horizons … It all started on Rise FM back in 2004 following some guest mixes when the station offered me a weekly two hour slot on a Saturday afternoon which was ideal for capturing a regular UK audience as the weekend got into gear. You can still check out some of the early track lists on the forums including Tranceaddict where whenever possible the live track list was, and indeed still is, updated.
After a fantastic two years at Rise FM which included a host of live broadcasts, exclusive tracks and guest DJ’s on the show, the show moved to its current home at ETN FM where it initially occupied a Saturday evening slot which was again ideally placed to allow the UK audience to tune in live. The move to ETN saw Euphoric Horizons sitting alongside the shows from some of the worlds best known names in trance including Aly & Fila, Ernesto & Bastian, Gabriel & Dresden, Kyau & Albert, Matt Darey, Menno de Jong, Ronald van Gelderen and Solarstone plus many more
As the audience expanded through ETN’s global appeal, the decision was taken last year to move from Saturday afternoons to Tuesday evenings which would still enable a UK and European audience to listen live to the show at a convenient time, but also to allow audiences in the US and Asia to listen at a sensible hour too. Along with this, syndicate broadcasts were also arranged with a number of other high profile stations to enable additional broadcasts throughout the week including Liquid FM, Rise FM, Deviant Audio and Club IOM Radio.
Euphoric Horizons has always reflected my musical preferences as a DJ in that it did not play the usual predictable big anthems in order to compete with the hundreds of other trance shows flooding the airwaves. Rather it relied on finding the hidden gems of trance and showcasing the really good unsigned stuff too. In the early years, this was mainly achieved by building up relationships with new unsigned artists as they honed their sounds and reached their fame, many of which have now gone on to massive successes as can be seen in the earlier track lists. In later years, this was further achieved through showcasing my own productions, as well as through promo pool membership of many of the worlds big trance labels which itself came from having a regular outlet with a solid reputation and a regular audience.
In the coming few weeks, I will be launching a new project named Upbeat Music which is set to revolutionise the path which new music takes on its journey from the mind of the producer on out to the world, but more on that to be announced shortly. EH200 will be the final chapter and as part of Upbeat Music, the current slots on ETN1 and the syndicate stations Liquid FM and 1Mix which currently broadcast the two hour Euphoric Horizons will now carry the new two hour Upbeat Music show.
A huge thanks to everyone who has submitted music, tuned in, followed the track list, downloaded the broadcasts or left their comments on the shows over the past four years; we look forward to your continued support!
As the sun sets on Euphoric Horizons, Upbeat Music as a radio show will allow me not only to continue to play the best in new and unsigned trance as a DJ but also to raise the profile of the Upbeat Music brand as it develops, being the first to showcase the music from the stars of tomorrow. The Upbeat Music press release will follow soon but for now, get in touch to get your tracks played on what is unquestionably one of the internet’s leading EDM stations.
